Penny looks like he has zero clue how to manage the game. Must-have possession, your best player at the table, building on fire…just stands there.
Virtually their entire team has fouled out and Gonzaga is playing at a breakneck pace. Having seen the past few tournaments with Gonzaga, I’ve been constantly amazed by the favorable calls they receive from the refs.
It looked like a flop live, but from the reverse view, it was a charge. The offensive player lowered his shoulder and went into his chest.
I’d have to see it again, but my first look at the replay I thought the shoulder contact wasn’t much. And that he was diving as he was hit
Chet’s very much a traditional big isn’t he? He’s not the Dirk type everyone was raving about.
Ugh, you cannot go under
Serious question. Has Holmgren just not weight lifted at all throughout his high school career and the transition to college in the summer? There’s literally no meat on his arms or legs.
Been a long time since a man has been told more forcefully to hit the weight room
Do not want Chet after watching him get nullified by Duren tonight. He’s a traditional rim protector who will torn in half at the next level.
Is Penny going home with all 3 timeouts in his pocket?
Nevermind!
Ice Nembhard!
I enjoyed Lappas repeatedly pleading for Penny to call TOs earlier, but the spiel about not needing the 3 is annoying. It wasn’t even that bad of a look.
Announcers lamenting Memphis going for a bad 3 instead of just a 2. Almost like they’ve never watched a Penny Hardaway coached team before tonight.
There’s a giant difference between being down 1 and being down 2 when you’re putting the opposition on the line.
I think it ended up that Penny wisely kept his timeouts. Set up the strategy for the last 6 seconds of the game.
Will also join in on the Lappas praise, but disagree here. Not a good shot and they seemed like they were taking a 3, no matter what.
Lappas does not seem like he has a lot of love for Penny.
These timeouts are too little too late for Penny. When Lappas was going on about it with like 3 minutes left was when he needed to use 1 or 2 to give the team a breather. But no.
I don’t agree with Lappas. With the time that was left you need a 3. What . . you going to take another 3 seconds to get a 2? Nope.
It wasn’t a bad look, but they wasted a couple seconds trying to get to the look when they could’ve probably just drove to the basket without much defense and got 2 points.
That’s ridiculous!
They watched a Penny Hardaway-coached team for the first time on Thursday.
