2022 NCAA Tournament Open Thread

Definitely not one of my better calls :man_facepalming:. Remy was pretty scary to have in on defense at times, but Self seems to have correctly identified that he would be a bucket getter when other guys may have been nervous to step up.

100%. That was a killer for them. Tough blow because they likely had the best team when healthy.

Getting a bit impatient waiting for the 2023 NCAA Tournament thread, so I guess I’ll just post this here…

I sure hope it was nothing more than that. And that the NCAA makes sure it never happens again. Treat the athletes and the game with the respect they deserve.

Maybe it’s not great to play on temporary floors in football arenas with absurd humidity levels

Out of curiosity, how many people does the biggest basketball stadium hold?

Not exactly a collection of elite teams to be proud of. Besides Kansas you had UNC and their decade of fake classes, Arizona and the FBI, Duke and K’s subtle corruption, LSU firing Wade just before the tourney and losing their entire roster…

I guess that’s why I was rooting for Villanova since they are the least dirty program as far as we know

Great tweet. Loved the retort from Coaching Changes: “that’s more than the number of classes UNC players attend”

Nova needs a new mascot and name. Really ought to be the Villanova Likeable Badgers.

Carrier Dome is the biggest in the country, but it doubles as a football stadium. Racist Rupp Arena holds 23,000.

  1. Carrier Dome, Syracuse — 34,616 seats
  2. Rupp Arena, Kentucky — 23,000 seats
  3. KFC Yum! Center, Louisville — 22,090 seats
  4. Dean Smith Center, North Carolina — 21,750 seats
  5. Thompson-Boling Arena, Tennessee — 21,678 seats
  6. Capital One Arena, Georgetown — 20,356 seats
  7. Madison Square Garden, St. John’s — 19,812 seats
  8. PNC Arena, NC State — 19,722 seats

Holy smokes. Why in the world does UT have such a huge arena? I could understand in Nashville where it could be primarily a concert venue but not in Knoxville. Do they sell it out?

Ok color me impressed. 2019 season UT averaged 19K per game (men) and 9k on the women’s side. Hope they can close off the top half of arena for the women. That would be sweet.

I have an uncle who is alumni who attributes that to excitement that Bernard King built in the seventies, FWIW.

Yep, every national champion has been inside the top 350 of both AdjO and AdjD. Pretty crazy.

Just want to point out that Jalen Coleman-Lands won a Natty. Awesome way to go out on a college career with a lot of ups and downs.

what I saw in order:

-Juwan consoling Chandler
-Houstan and Michigan bench celebrating him making a 3 away from Crisler vs. CSU (sorry I couldn’t help it)
-Juwan celebrating/hugging Chris Webber
-Locker room celebration after beating Tennessee
-Eric Dixon on Nova posting up Moussa
-Eli dribbling around a Hunter screen vs. Nova

Not bad at all

The “only game in town” factor helps. Not only are there no pro teams anywhere near Knoxville, there is no other big state university.

I want this for every game I watch but especially for every Michigan game I watch
