2022 NCAA Tournament Open Thread

A commercial regarding the lack of people respecting/paying attention to women’s sports coming on during a broadcast in which women’s basketball was yet again screwed by being given game times directly competing with the men’s tournament is, uh, something.

Nova’s FT defense is impeccable.

Their 3-point D is pretty decent. Houston’s shooting 7% from there. Yikes.

Especially when the sport is women’s swimming - a sport that is only found on tv (even for men!) at like midnight on like Peacock

Cadillac is paying for these ads in the mens tournament - broadcasts that will exist without their subsidy. They are free to sponsor the NCAA womens swimming championships and put them on TV where people can watch. Do they? Of course not.

Feel like I am watching live what would have happened if TWill buried that 3 when we were down 4.

Gillespie with a taste of his own medicine on the post-up right there.

Houston shooting it from 3 like we shot it from the paint.

It’s hard to pull off on college but an all switching D is can put teams in really bad spots.

Like I know Villanova is causing some of this bad basketball, but how the heck is this the same team that crushed Illinois and Arizona? Houston looks awful tonight

They seem to have the gift of classic Wisconsin and Virginia of living down in the mud and making you live down in the mud with them. Mud life.

I didn’t choose the mud life, the mud life chose me

Oh man, he just snapped his achilles it looked like

Nothing against Villanova but this game makes me pretty salty. They haven’t really had to do anything in two games. Just let the opponent lay bricks.

Yep. Textbook example. He stood up and demonstrated zero toe push off. He knows it.

Houston has 3 players who have shot the ball more than 4 times tonight. Shead is 4-12, Moore is 6-20 and Edwards is 1-11.

Fairly confident 1 for 18 from 3 does not reflect Nova’s defensive acumen

If either of Houston or Michigan plays anywhere close to their “A” game, they would have won. And might be a better Final Four team because this injury is going to be a huge blow to a thin Nova team.

No team is safe from this obvi but the thing that the last two tourneys have made clear to me is that having those truly elite shotmakers is a pretty big deal

Plenty of great looks. Just flat atrocious shooting.

So since the 2012-13 season, only one of Michigan’s tourney losses was to a team that didn’t make the Final Four (Notre Dame 2016). That’s pretty crazy to be honest.
