2022 NBA Playoffs Open Thread

One of the things that will be interesting with Poole is that I think he means more to the Warriors than he would to some teams and also that the Warriors mean more to him as well. GSW is going to let him do a bunch of “shoot from anywhere” things within their offense and he gets to play on a team surrounded by other similar players so he’s not the focal point. If some other franchise were to sign him to a big deal expecting him to be Curry for their franchise, I’m not sure that works either way. Poole is the ideal compliment to Curry/Klay and I’m not sure he’s at the level to be that on his own.

I know that but where is Moody ever going to get time. Curry/Thompson/Green/Looney/Wiggins

Poole/Wiseman/Moody/Kuminga/Payton?? Seems Moody might end up being the odd man out.

Well, they can always make a trade.

I think it’s fair to note that their big 3 guys (Curry/Klay/Green) are on the latter end of their useful lives, and all already off peak (though still good). The larger point here is that I think we are unlikely to see that threesome play more than 60 games apiece ever again in a regular season (probably more like the 50s!) so minutes for Moody and Kuminga are there.

GS on a 21-0 run. I’m not getting enough crowd shots of sad Boston fans.

It’s pretty interesting to consider how the Warriors might navigate this transition. And how much it’s looking like that Weisman pick isn’t going to matter a ton.

congrats to the Warriors

It’s weird to me how much this has been an OReb and TO margin series. Just doesn’t comport w my mental model for NBA finals basketball.

What is your model?

shot quality and shot makers swamp the value of extra possessions

…to be clear I’m not unaware the Warriors are shooting 20 pts better on 3’s so far

This was over after the Celtics didn’t go up 3-1 in game 4.

Usually you can assume a team in the nba finals isn’t going to turn the ball over 13 times in a half

Steph is so demoralizing

But that’s been a thing for the C’s all series right? And it seems like Tatum and Brown being their primary creators has a lot to do with that?

Lotta variance in any single game or for that matter a single factor in a single game, for sure.

Tatum holds the record for most turnovers in a single playoffs now - and set it two games ago I think.

Wiggins, Draymond and especially Looney are murdering them on the glass.

Also I’m asking myself if Brown is not actually the Celtics’ best player?
