Agree but he should have subbed out when he twisted his ankle. Went from up 4 to down 5 in a nanosecond because he was limping after the Stephster
The worst defensive player in their starting lineup is probably Jalen Brown, which is crazy. Having Williams patrolling the paint behind such an elite crew of perimeter defenders is unfair, just imagine if he was actually healthy enough to play all game.
Williams is a walking injury waiting to happen. But for how good Boston is they turn the ball over way too much. But I’m not complaining as I am a major Boston Celtics hater.
With this series being so close, it’s fair to ask if the Warriors drafting Kuminga over Wagner may cost them the title. Many people projected Franz to the Warriors in last year’s draft, and it seemed like a natural fit. Instead, they went with Kuminga, a long-term development project, over the ready-to-play Wagner. Wagner was selected with the next pick.
Franz of course had a stellar rookie year, while Kuminga played sparingly and has only played garbage time minutes in the finals. To me, it feels like the Warriors are a guy short at times, and I think Wagner would play rotational minutes on this team and be able to contribute on both ends of the floor.
Of course, the Warriors may still win the series (My money is on Boston). But if they lose I think they will really regret not drafting Wagner. What do you guys think, would Franz have made a meaningful difference for the Warriors?
I think it’s honestly hard to tell, given that a larger amount of their playing time disparity is attributable to team quality (the Magic are awful).
My guess is that Golden State is happy with both Kuminga and Moody.
Franz is absolutely the type of player they are trying to play. He’s very Otto Porter-sequel. It’s really hard to know if he would be good enough to play in the finals but it’s a good question. (Although it seems heretical to wonder if the 9th best player on the roster swings the Finals!)
At the trade deadline, I wondered if both sides would do a Kuminga-Moody-Wiseman for Jeramy Grant-spare parts trade. This was when the Warriors had some injuries.
You wondered if they’d trade 3 top 8 picks for Jerami Grant?
that would be way too much for Jerami Grant. I would take any one of them for Jerami considering their age.
Yeah, it was a lot, but their window is starting to close. And at the time Phoenix was the favorite to come out of the West while GS was very banged up.
Wiggins has turned into a deluxe Danny Green.
He’s heard enough of people using his money to pay Poole
Yeah I was one of them, but man, this level of two way play in 46 minutes….
Seems like this series has come down to “The Warriors will score between 105 and 108 points, can the Celtics go over?”
The rumor is Lacob will pay Wiggins and Poole and will not have a problem doing it. lol
That’s what I was considering, especially with the big 3 getting older.
You know what, good for Lacob. Dude bought the team 12 years ago and the value of the franchise has went up like 90% since then. Money isn’t real at that point
I mean he’s paying $346 million this season alone with all of the luxury taxes. He already got his money back from the playoff run so he will not blink to keep Wiggins and Poole.
I’m really asking myself how much Poole is really going to cost. I’m not sure a guy that plays 14 mpg in the finals is going to get $20+ mil a year. I realize we need to project with him, but that’s what he is at the moment - a regular season/early playoff star on a team that is hunting larger game. Wiggins makes $29 mil this year (his max deal possible is considerably higher than that), he’s probably not worth that, but he’s not THAT far off it based on this year, and his ability to perform in the finals at a high level at HIGH volume minutes. I’d like to see him at like $22-$25, but I think in their shoes I’d swallow retaining him at the same price.
Neither should get their max deals (nor do I think anyone would offer them).
Poole is getting max extension IMO which is 5 years and 186 mil based on the rookie extension eligible.
I am unsure of Wiggins value but with his finals performance, it might be at 25-30 mil range. Like I said, Lacob will not hesitate to retain both players. Wiggins has proved to be a great 2 way player and Poole is ascending. The big challenge is to integrate Kuminga and Moody into the rotation next year while figuring out where Wiseman fit into it. GSW need big bodies down the road.
