2022 NBA Playoffs Open Thread

I guess you’re not wrong. At least this playoffs has had, like, 5+ legitimate title contenders.

Duncan doesn’t have many shots but his movement has juiced the Heat’s half court offense. Oladipo is menace on d.

A Taco Bell commercial featuring… Johnny Davis?!?

Another night, another 20 point blowout

Competitive game through the third quarter, so I don’t know if it’s fair to say it’s a blowout. But you could see this coming. Heat have to make shots or forget it. Glad that Duncan made a few, but frustrating he couldn’t catch fire.

It really seemed like this was going to be the year that somebody hired Mark Jackson away from the microphone…and then nothing.

Between Butler’s knee, Herro’s groin, and Lowry’s hamstring, the Heat just don’t have a guy who can create a shot.

Robert Williams is quite handsome IMO

I have a feeling games 1-5 in this Boston series will be worth it. Hoping for an epic game 7. Tonight was a lot of fun!

The refs were awful…but for both teams.

I’ve talked myself into T-Will being our version of PJ Tucker next year. How do we feel about this comparison?

Feels like he needs to regain some of that round boi energy he had his freshman year. I feel like he’s lost some of his motor with his weight. Or maybe he’s just a more polished player not being completely wild on the floor, the way he was early as a freshman.

PJ is one of the better defensive wings in the league - he can guard three through five, he can switch onto guards, and generally takes the hardest assignment on one of the leagues best defenses…

Is Williams an even average defender? Williams best asset this year was that he made some shots (something that comes and goes for PJ).

Could only catch the last couple minutes. Thought the Heat were cooked after that last game. Must’ve been a gutty performance on the road.

Are you talking about time lord? He’s an incredible defender…

Terrence Williams, the Michigan player

Was saying why I don’t see him as “our PJ Tucker”

I wonder how good the nba award voters feel about choosing Pascal Siakam over Jimmy Butler

It’s funny how often voters can let minor statistical gaps (their regular season output amounts to Siakam scoring 2 more points a game and grabbing 1.5 more rebounds in 6 more minutes of game time, but doing so less efficiently and with worse defense) just over rule what I think the pretty clear answer is if you ask yourself “who would I rather on the floor in a must win game?”.

I believe 90%+ of people would answer “Butler” to that question. I realize it’s a regular season award, but they were really close - at some point the question is “who are the 6 best forwards in the NBA?”.

Impact metrics say Butler is a top 12 player (and has been in perpetuity for awhile), and I stopped searching for Siakam when my scrolling got me to Immanuel Quickley and Siakam hadn’t shown up.

Oh yeah, sorry, completely forgot the context of the conversation

Ugh. Almost a legendary comeback.
