“maintaining eligibility and utilizing all options” sounds like portal without saying portal
Dunno. He said “pure focus” versus just “focus”.
I feel bad for the poor graphic designer who had to make a new “Northwestern → NBA” template for the first time in 24 years just so the player can inevitably end up in the portal
If he wants to do anything of import in the college game, he needs to transfer. Hitching your wagon to Chris Collins is not a winning strategy.
Juicy portal prospect too IMO. Think he could be really good surrounded by good players.
cough cough cough

Collins-Shannon-Jett-Nance-Dickinson
go get that natty
Pretty sure Nance would have committed to us back in 2018 had Brandon Johns not. I would like our chances if he does indeed go into the portal!
Nance was a Donlon recruit. He decided on NW after Donlon went there.
Ah. That makes more sense then.
Nance confirmed to Clemson.
I’ve never understood how players can make a commit decision based on an assistant coach. I get it that you form a relationship during the recruiting process, but assistants turn over so quickly and for so many reasons. And even if your “guy” does stay on staff, it’s not like that assistant is the one making decisions about the team.
At many programs, I think it is pretty normal for a player to interact with assistants more than the head coach. Assistant coaches also spend a lot of time establishing personal relationships with prospects during the recruiting process. Also … head coaches can leave too.
Realize this may be overly naive of me, but perhaps they weren’t touting their playing choices because final exams are last week and this week?
(interesting that Givony referenced “a source” since he was the source for Houstan’s commitment announcement)
EDIT: Never mind, looks like the commitment note was phrased exactly the same way.
Weird since an insider said earlier today people that should know didn’t even know his decision at one point today.
There are going to be a lot of folks heading back to school or somewhere other than joining a NBA team.
