Transformation.Skillset is quite similar.
I really donāt like bigs who donāt rack up blocks and steals. I know he played the 4 but there were plenty of opportunities for him to make a stat impact.
On a different note, Vecenie put something out with a focused section on Hunter. Got a mention finally on his improved passing.
Dickinson is lethal enough on offense to where heās raised his esteem in my eyes. Earlier this season, I thought he didnāt really have a chance to stick in the NBA. Now, I wonder if his overall offensive game gives him a shot to be a legitimate bench big.
He also then goes on to roast his defense haha.
I think his handles have looked fine. Heās 7 foot, so think Durant or AD handles - not Curry or Irving! If there is anything Iām worried about, itās that he isnāt really a shot hunter. Heās not as aggressive at this level than I remember in HS games (which does make some sense coming onto an older team). I just donāt know if heāll ever be Alpha Durant looking for every shot.
I imagine a few seasons in, heāll have added some weight, but also donāt think heāll ever be Giannis.
The thing that sticks out (literally) is that Giannis has some really wide shoulders. Chetās just never gonna have that body type. That said, I think youāre more right than wrong to consider just how much a playerās body changes as they age. We also had folks literally just last year saying things like āEvan Mobley has a weird body typeā. Not sure thatās worth the emphasis people put on it.
Re: Chet, I think heāll finish games at the 5 by the time heās hitting his peak and that his D instincts + playmaking are a fascinating combination. His statistical profile, I dk what to do with. He made 70% of his 2ās this year and blocked an absurd number of shots but mostly against a trash schedule. I dk what that would look like against a B1G schedule.
In Tier A games he shot 71% on 2s and had an 11.7 BLK rate
I really do like Sam a lot and he watches an insane amount of hoops but I swear deep down in the depths of his lizard brain he canāt help but underrate Michigan players a bit.
Durant dribbles well enough to create for himself off the dribble and run pick and roll, which is an order of magnitude better than Chetās and ADās.
I have always kind of felt that too, but never felt right communicating it haha. He def overrates OSU players IMO. Acting like Zed Key is actually good confused me, and heās been slower to come around on some Michigan players in the past, though he gets there eventually
I think itās more likely that weāre biased than he is all things considered but I had to say it once.
Yeah I saw that and Iām still just not that sure. Most of those are just away games against the better WCC teams. So then youāre just down to the games that he played against high majors? Well, thatās wildly small sample. Itās weird sample turtles all the way down IMO. Without watching a ton of tape or modeling I just wouldnāt feel comfortable that I knew what to think of it.
As mentioned below, Look at Chetās shoulders and hip. Heās not getting to 240. No one was concerned that Giannis could eventually put on weight. Giannis in that picture doesnāt even look in the same universe of skinny as Chet is right now. I think Chet will fill out more, but heāll always be skinny and will have to deal with that as a weakness in his game.
Yeah, I donāt disagree. Iām just happy the Pistons drafted #1 last year instead of this year, ha.
I donāt know. With the caveat that I have not watched every Gonzaga game - Iāve seen plenty of times that Holmgren has grabbed a rebound and looked comfortable taking it the length of the floor for a bucket. Or blown by his man at the top of the key.
I have not; however, seen the PNR run with him as the initiatorā¦but, with the strength of the team as a whole, there really isnāt a need to showcase that. And I think that reflects to my point that I donāt know if I ever see him being an Alpha - more of an AD style second fiddle than a Durant hunting Alpha1. But either way, I think he handles it REALLY well for a 7 foot dude.
Giannis in that picture is also clearly standing closer to the camera in the after shot. But, either way, if youāre in the camp that belives Chet can put on weight, well, I just donāt know and would love to see some evidence, or whatās a reasonable expectation there. From age 17 to 19 he went from 190 to 195. Gained a whole five pounds in two years. I could do that by 6pm, but all kidding aside I think Chetās got very clearly a floor that is as low as his ceiling is high.
Durant is the comp in terms of strength/weight if youāre even thinking about that for Chet. Both are narrow shouldered, slender, skinny types who will never be able to add muscle like Giannis. I still think Durant is your āhopeā for Chet if you draft him - a 7-footer who can play three positions, who can shoot, who can get his own shot, and who plays good defense. Heās not Durant, but thatās the closest comp to someone like him.
Agreed. Holmgren is in the Shawn Bradley/Manute Bol weight class. I still think he can add a little bit of muscle. I think 215-220 sounds reasonable.
I honestly really like his game. I think his floor is much higher than some though.
But itās not a comp. To start, he makes Durant look like the Hulk. Second, Durantās value was never based in large part on rim protection, so for Chet itās all that more important a factor. Chetās value as a #1 is conditional on him being able to control the paint in the NBA. If you donāt think he can do that, and youāre drafting him based on, basically, his combination of height and shot, well just go get Jabari Smith instead who also projects as a two-way player but as a 4 with a legit 4 body. So much higher a floor there.
I am tempted to say that Chet goes to the Pelicans where he rooms with Zion, hoping that the average weight for both could be normal.
LOL, perfect! At long last, the natural argument for a team to have two mascots.
