All Michigan fans here that thought they would lose to them today
Illinois actually picked up a small amount of ground on Michigan today, but it has to be safe at this point. It probably already was, but if Gonzaga had beaten UCLA by 40, that might have cascaded through.
I mostly wanted UCLA to win to trash everyone shidding and crying about Juwan winning COY.
Yeah I was gonna say Baylor doing well helps Illinois. Doubt itâll be enough unless Baylor wins a massive blowout
Is anybody really doing that? Gonzaga was expected to be perfect, or nearly so. Coach Howard did a better coaching job than Coach Few. The coach of the team that was already expected to be the best almost never wins the award: itâs basically an âexceeding your expectationsâ prize.
Baylor has completely rebuilt their athletic programs (cough cough cover-up Art Briles era), my niece is dating a nice young man who just graduated from Baylor Music School. Itâs going to be an interesting game, but I always wonder if a team from Wacko can win big in college athletics.
I had Houston beating Baylor and Gonzaga for the championship. Never thought it would be close on the other end of it.
Oh, I forgot about that. Yes, a Baylor win by 40 might move the needle enough to put Illinois back in front. I donât think Iâll spend too much time worrying about it though.
Go to r/collegebasketball, nearly everyone was PISSED lol.
Iâll take your word for it. That sounds worse than RCMB.
BTW, you want a weak schedule for an undefeated team? How about â76 Rutgers, who managed to finish 31-2 despite going into the tournament undefeated (ahh, the vaunted Third Place game). Prior to the Final Four, theyâd played two ranked teams all year. Two!
Imagine being 1976 Michigan, having to play two undefeated teams in the Final Four.
Ah, from Baylor. That makes sense.
Baylor is arguably the most despicable athletic department there is so you donât want to ever see that rewarded.
Gonzaga lost a title to a scandal plagued North Carolina so I can think they are due.
This is really accurate. Iâm inclined to think Baylor will win, but itâs an easy call who to root for Monday night.
That game really helped me get over Tuesday night. Dang what a game!
Best team of all time? Who would call them that?
I was bored this morning and was looking at some numbers doing some quick mathâŚ
Juzang averaged 13.9 ppg in 21 regular season games and put up 23 ppg in the tourney, a jump of about 9 points. I canât imagine there are many guys that have raised their scoring by that much, assuming a minimum of 3+ tourney games played. The heater he went on was out of this world. We donât see things like that hardly at all.
I thought McGary would be close, and he averaged 6.2 ppg in the regular season and 14.3 in the tourneyâŚThe list canât be long.
Esp doing even better when the stakes increasedâŚ28.5 in the Elite Eight and Final Four.
UCLAâs offensive performances in their NCAA tournament games. 1.19, 1.22, 1.06, 1.11, 0.86, and 1.22. Guess which one they lost
