Great job by UCLA to get it from 8 back to 1. Also Quinerly has looked great tonight, sure Nova missed him badly ever since Gillespie went down.

Nova really could have used him.

Haven’t watched a ton of Bama this year but I’m pretty confused on how they are third on kenpom defensive efficiency. They look super undisciplined on both sides and I feel like they have allowed a lot of dribble penetration this half

Based on their profile they prevent assisted buckets and 3PA. Though I’m convinced they and LSUs d3p% is just cause the sec can’t shoot

Well, the SEC DPOY has been on the bench for the past 13 minutes.

It definitely seems like the lack of nonconference games skewed a lot of teams’ KP rankings.

Also a good point

If that’s not a charge on Jaquez how is it not a flop on Bama?

Yes, I’d have given a flop warning personally there.

Sometimes it’s just a ā€œplay-onā€ā€¦

Boy do I REALLY like our chances against either of these teams.

I mean I guess but I don’t really understand how that exists in the scope of the flop warning. If there’s illegal contact by the offensive player, it’s a charge. If there’s illegal contact by the defensive player, it’s a foul. And if there’s neither, but the player goes down, how is that anything but a flop by definition? It’s not like he was off balance and fell, he went down looking for the foul call.

Sign me up for a 5 ot game for UCLA-Bama

feels like Bama will somehow have a 9-point lead at halftime

I don’t really get the point of the flop warning. If a guy flops and it’s not a foul, just give the offensive guy the advantage that results.

Not all contact is illegal; the flop warning is supposed to be for embellishment. I thought he embellished, but I can see the official deciding that he just slipped.

I guess my point is that just because there is contact doesn’t mean either has to be illegal. But I have to admit not being fully up on the flop rules. It just seemed like that was a good no-call either way to me.

I don’t disagree, but with the rule existing that seems like it has to be a flop then

I disagree. Flopping deserves an additional penalty beyond just not rewarding it. It’s just bad for the game. We’re not watching World Cup soccer here…

Yeah I mean if that’s the call sure, it just looked clear to me that he didn’t slip and was trying to draw a foul.

I agree, I’m not asking for a foul. But that seems to be the exact area where a flop warning would come into play when a guy goes down and there’s no foul.
