His theatrics made it seemed like the OU shoved him. He grab and nudged. Didn’t think it was even a flagrant 1.
So you’re suggesting that he took a dive… and then got up and reacted like that in order to sell it?
Definitely a flagrant. Not worthy of ejection though. He didn’t shove him hard but with his momentum carrying him the other way it’s gonna lead to a potentially dangerous situation. No real play on the ball either
Those shenanigans may have just woke up Gonzaga. They’re going to go on a run to finish this game now. /s
Suggs has some drama in his game for sure. Zags are perfect fit for his overall development
Dylan tweeted that he should be ejected. I thought Suggs dived. He was pulling with his off arm, how could he have pushed that hard with the other?
I will happily take a Timme vs Dickinson matchup, because that would be a national semifinal.
PS: Michigan is really, really good in national semifinals.
Really? It was at least a flagrant one. Sighs was dribbling the ball in his left hand. OK player reaches but grabs his right bicep while pushing him in the back with his left hand. Definitely flagrant.
Completely bush league play. The game is over and you are going to shove someone in the back in the final minute?
Incredibly dangerous regardless of if he also grabbed his off arm.
I thought Suggs dove as well. He was yelling at Mark Few earlier, and has shown his firey competitive demeanor throughout the year in big games. Still love his game for sure. That was a tough call for the baseline official, but my first instinct was “intentional/flagrant 1” when I saw it in real time.
I remembered Drew Timme was being recruited by Michigan. Wasn’t it by Beilein? He would be a good fit in his system as a 5 for him.
I discounted the time/situation of the game. A flagrant 1 seems like the right call.
but he wasn’t shoved. he grabbed his arm. regardless, don’t need that in a game that’s decided.
His other hand clearly pushed him in the back, no?
To me, replay didn’t provide evidence of the reaction we got from Suggs. I completely admit going full speed the slightest of pushes could send you flying.
could have. I guess I didn’t see that. we’ll agree that it’s not a great look given the circumstances. not sure if there any circumstances where that’s a good play tbh
Not defending it, but one who was so inclined (not me) could ask why Suggs is going in for a score in that game situation instead of pulling it back out (again, it is not me asking this question). Such a person (I cannot emphasize enough that this is not me) might also theorize (in a theoretical manner) that the grab of the bicep may have been an unsuccessful attempt to ensure Suggs did not go flying forward.
I think the ref has to make that call in real time, whether to elevate to “intentional/flagrant 1”. They did. Then went to monitor and concluded that was the correct call. So I’ll go with the thorough review by D1 refs.
I think it was bush league to do a hard foul in that situation anyway, but I didn’t think he really pushed him.
I see the push more in full speed vs replay. Definitely unnecessary in time/situation. I don’t think he was trying to hurt Suggs. Should have been smarter though.
