Wow. Iowa has turned to Anthony Perkins for help.

George’s 3 years get credit for Tom’s 13 years??

Oregon’s switched to the Rutgers Prevent Offense. Unfortunately for Iowa, they’re not even good enough on D to take advantage of that.

Garza against dunkathon.

Id say the prospects of winning any individual game can come down to matchups, but reading the preview for this game I don’t see us matchup up that well except for Hunter. I think that is what truly makes me scared about this one. If it was a team we matched up better against, all the noise about the Big Ten wouldnt bother me as much

Wow! That was the Iowa sieve defense there! Everyone just get out of the way and let the man waltze in from 20’ for the dunk!

How fitting that Garza’s college career comes to the end in a game where he had a stupid-good offensive performance (he has 36 points on 14/19 from the field) but he nor his team could defend to save their lives, and they get upset in the Round of 32.

It’s not a sieve, it’s a vacuum cleaner.

This is basically Iowa’s game against Gonzaga earlier this year repeated.

Just tuned in to see that dunk right down Broadway. Has Oregon been bullying Iowa all day?

That play was pretty emblematic, yes.

Pretty much, except in that one, Gonzaga messed around for a while and Joe T made it look like a respectable final score. Oregon didn’t get bored like the Zags did, that’s the only difference.

I think LSU vs Michigan will end up being 2013 Kansas vs Michigan, except Michigan will be trading places as the team with a juggernaut center (Jeff Withy vs Dickinson) vs LSU with the smaller more technically gifted PF (Trendon Watford)

I think it will look more like a bug vs. a windshield

I might add Rick Stansbury

So Jim Jackson has gone from praising Oregon’s defense to praising Dana Altman’s coaching.

If I were as bad at my job as Jim Jackson, I’d be unemployed.

Summary of the Big 10’s non-conference performance this year. For the 9 teams that made the tournament, against each major conference we went:

  • ACC: 10-3 (2-0 in tournament)

  • Big East: 1-1 (1-0 in tournament)

  • Big 12: 1-2 (0-1 in tournament)

  • SEC: 0-1

  • Pac-12: 1-2 (0-2 in tournament)

  • Other high mid-majors (ie Gonzaga, Loyola, A-10, AAC, etc.): 2-3 (0-2 in tournament)

If you do the whole conference:

  • ACC: 12-6

  • Big East: 3-3

  • Big 12: 1-3

  • SEC: 0-1

  • Pac-12: 2-2

  • Other high mid-majors (ie Gonzaga, Loyola, A-10, AAC, etc.): 4-3

And then for a final total:

  • Vs major conference or other high mid-major tournament teams: 7-10 (by our tournament teams). 2-0 vs UNC, 1-1 vs Loyola, 1-2 vs Clemson, 1-1 vs UCLA. Best win is probably Wisconsin over Loyola.

This also doesn’t account for the fact that the B1G has lost to non major conference teams seeded 13 spots lower than them (OSU) and 9 spots lower than them (Purdue) in the tourney. And while they’re accounted for in the numbers, we now have Iowa losing to a team seeded 5 spots lower and Illinois losing to a team 7 spots lower.

So FF will be Oregon/USC, Colorado/UCLA, Oregon State and Oral Roberts.
