I don’t like any of these programs playing right now.
B1G deserves it after crowing all season about the conference’s superiority off wacky advanced metrics.
“Wacky advanced metrics”
Like Kenpom and Torvik? Lol.
Wackier than those nerds with their stats are people who judge the entire college basketball landscape off of 10 games.
The deep shooting in this game is pretty crazy. Like a challenge to see who can hit the longest shot.
This year’s Kenpom’s rankings with 4-5 B1G in the top 10 were thrown off balance due to lack of OOC games. There was an insane recursion going on that’s pretty commonly agreed upon.
Looks like Syracuse is gonna pull this one out. Can’t wait to see Geo Baker light up this zone.
Hmm, let’s see.
Friday: Record of favorites today: 13-5 (expected: 13-5)
Saturday: Record of favorites today: 11-6 (expected: 13-4)
So far today: Record of favorites today: 1-1 (expected: 1-1)
I don’t see any real evidence that KenPom’s numbers are any wackier this year than usual.
Syracuse is gonna be a 10 seed next year, and I’m gonna pick them to go out in the round of 32 yet again because I don’t learn my lesson.
I feel like we can agree the B1G was maybe a bit too hyped up while also admitting the result that’s happened so far is not at all out of the normal distribution of possibilities based on KenPom.
Before the Illinois game the B1G was barely underperforming what would have been expected
If Rutgers can chuck their way into a win the narrative will change.
Agreed. I’d also add that the Big Ten can be both overrated and still the best conference in the country. If your argument is that it’s not, I’d like to see your full list of superior conferences this year, please.
Exactly. I’m fine if people say B12 is better but let’s be real, no other conference is really shining here. Can’t say the P12 is better just because of this tournament where they got 4 teams in
When you have a ton of teams in the tournament, your conference will lose more games. That’s just the nature of it. Half of the teams lose every day
Illinois losing is clearly something, but I can’t complain this year, because I’m grumpy about them
Big 12 having 3/10 teams being worse than the 14th team in the B1G makes that a terrible argument though.
If the WVU guy hadn’t grabbed the ball, I think it would have been a five-second count after one additional second.
It just depends on whether you value top teams or depth. Depth wise the B1G is still untouched. But B12 has 6 top 25 teams which is impressive. Even though their bottom 3 are
I’m sorry Raferty but they needed a 3
Raftery says that same thing at the end of every game and he’s pretty much wrong every time.
I am pretty sure the Big Ten is doing worse than barely under performing.
