Would never happen but I would want a 58 game season (everyone plays twice, no conferences, divisions or back to backs) And a mid season single elimination tournament with all teams scheduled for the week after the Super Bowl.
Just Back from Wizards game. Took my HS senior son. A good time. Not a great game but the first event I’ve been to in forever. Woo!
Crowd was like 3,000? Quite a weird enviro. My son was star struck by Elena Dela Donne who was in our section. Got the proverbial selfie. I’m 6-1 or 6-2 … she’s tall!
That’s awesome - she’s an amazing player. I know that she’s friends with Beal - he’s a Mystics season ticket holder.
Poole with some big plays down the stretch to help GS come back and take it to OT.
With a great assist from Memphis’ head coach not challenging a clear leg kick resulting in three free throws.
Play-in games are fun. Smart move by the NBA and Silver.
His stats this year are uneven, but it’s clear what GS likes. Smart driving, can shoot, makes plays (with passes that verge on excellent), good trajectory to put it all together.
Sounded like a gimmick to me, but it really does provide some great drama, and some real excitement for teams that, really, are likely to get put to the sword by a better team when the playoffs start.
Don’t think they would’ve overturned that tbh.
It wasn’t THAT blatant and you could argue it was just part of his natural shooting motion (see buzzer beater vs. Houston)
Overall really good game from Poole though. 6 points and a beautiful assist in the final minutes to bring GSW back from down 10 - then another 6 points in OT.
Well, Poole did his thing and performed well in the two biggest games of the season, even though the Warriors lost both. Good for him to step up on the biggest stage. I’m super excited to follow his career. He’s already easily in the top 4 of the Beilein NBA guys behind LeVert, Hardaway, and Duncan “D-Rob” Robinson.
Question for the intelligent people of the board, do these games affect the draft placement at all or is it totally based on regular sason?
How about Xavier Tillman nailing a big three in OT
I was one of the people who knew Xavier wasn’t a star but was positive he’d play in the NBA. Stuff like this is impressive for a rookie:
Poole and Tillman made some big time plays down the stretch. Really fun game.
Maybe it’s anchoring due to alma mater, and I don’t think he will ever equal Draymond’s passing, but Tillman sure looks like he can become Draymond-ish as a defender. He was phenomenal down the stretch here - the Warriors kept putting him in P&R and I don’t think he broke once.
Watching it live I thought Tillmans foot might have been on the line. Would love to have seen it from another angle. Either way, he played well and he hit another corner three earlier in the game too. I have no doubt he’s gonna have a great career.
That’s always been the comp I’ve liked. He’s not quite the passer that Draymond is, though he’s still a solid one. But basically an undersized guy who’s ability to guard 1-5 and basically just do every little thing opens up so much options offensively and especially defensively.
Was always confused by the questions around him during the draft process, he just had such a high floor. Worst case scenario is he was an elite bench player filling in the Draymond role, and his ceiling is playing that role at a high level as a starter, which is incredibly value.
Poole made some clutch plays on offense. Defense still needs lots of work, but I think these last two games will go a long way toward his development. Two do or die games may have been better than a best of 7 series where they go out in 5 games.
Yeah Poole definitely had a strong finishing kick to the season, including solid performances in three pretty high stakes games in a row.
Yeah, he spaced out big time on Memphis’s last basket.
Yeah watching Jordan and Wiggins both fail to pay attention off-ball had to drive Steve nuts. There’s a reason a guy as washed offensively as Kent Bazemore played this year as much as he did.
