2021 NBA Playoffs

Kevin Huerter, another recruiting miss, having a good game…

Caris, playing the analyst role…

Part of me is still a little bitter towards the Bucks since they took out the Nets, but without a doubt tonight has confirmed that Trae is my favorite non Net in the NBA. Dude has been the ultimate showman and villain in every series, and he’s just so damn good.

Crazy that he made these two plays within a minute of each other.

That shimmy is the coldest thing I’ve seen on a basketball court in so long. If a Michigan player did that @MSU it’d live in Michigan lore forever. Absolutely love it.

Trae with more felonies tonight. Should not be throwing oops off the backboard in a one possession game.

I think it’s safe to say that Trae Young is a superstar after all of the slander he has endured from casuals and Luka fanboys before the playoff started. He impacts the game in so many ways as a creator and scored 48 points in Game 1 on the road. There’s something about Trae playing well in big stage against hostile crowd.

Trae was so good in college, it’s crazy that the majority of us didn’t foresee that projecting to the next level. Props to him for elevating his game. Legit superstar.

Oklahoma got worse once they figured out that there’s no one else good so they just ganged up on Trae yet Trae still led the nation in ppg and apg. That’s crazy. Schenk deserves a lot of credit on being able to trade down and get his guy plus a 1st which became Cam Reddish. It’s a rare trade where it worked out for both teams.

I think he ended up with middle of the road advanced shooting and overall efficiency stats which led people to wonder how efficient he would be with better athletes in the NBA. The thing I like about college Trae and now NBA Trae is he is a willing passer. I still think he shoots 1-2 unwarranted heat check deep threes a game, whereas if he gets going downhill or shoots within the offense good things happen.

So this is going to help Luka get out of round 1?? Love Luka and loved Kidd as a player but can someone tell me the appeal of Jason Kidd as head coach?? How long does Kidd last in Dallas???

That Athletic article about the Mavs internal power struggle just gets curiouser. Pretty obvious now that Luka is the one actually running the show given all the tweets Voulgaris did about Kidd being terrible and that Donnie and Carlisle bounced.

I’m honestly shocked that a franchise that is justifiably getting raked over the coals for its institutional treatment of women just hired Jason Kidd.

Nevermind that Kidd is so “good” at coaching that just ditching him and adding Budenholzer and Brook Lopez vaulted the Bucks from 43 wins and the 8 seed to 60 wins and the 1 seed.

The Hawks are a crazy deep team. They had multiple injuries throughout the season and yet they’re playing well in the 1st half against the Bucks without Trae Young. I’m still bullish on Cam Reddish’s potential. His defense is really good and some Hawks fans considered him to be the best defender on the team. He showed flashes on offense but is still inconsistent. Once he puts it all together, he’ll be a major player for them going forward.

Big fan of their roster comp:

  • elite playmaking ball screen guard
  • endless 6-6ish type wings who can shoot and defend multiple spots
  • lob threat who can defend the rim

Their backup center looks promising too.

Schlenk really did a great job of constructing a roster around Trae Young. They have a nice secondary ballhandler in Bogi but Bogi is hurt with a leg injury that limited his effectiveness.

The interesting decision after this season is John Collins. Will they pay near max money on him? To me, he isn’t one but he’ll command over $100 mil as a FA. They do need him back for size/spacing at PF/C unless they’re confident that Okongwu can make a leap as a PF/C.

The good news is Tony Snell and Lou Williams are off the book after this season so there’s some room for them to pay Collins. The Hawks would need to find a backup PG who can run the 2nd unit which would likely come from late 1st round in the draft.

I don’t watch a ton of NBA…but I like Collins, yet the idea of a role player like that making $100+ million is crazy.

Huerter was hunting Forbes all game. Got to that floater whenever he wanted.
