Would never happen but I’d want a 59 game season. Everyone plays twice, no back to backs and no conferences or divisions. Throw a single elimination tourney in the middle right after the super bowl.
I disagree wholeheartedly. That offense that was ran in the last 8 minutes of the game was horrible. They had a couple Giannis post ups which made sense. Otherwise, it was Holiday and Giannis trying to go 1 on 1 pretty every time down (to horrific results). That’s coaching to me. Call a time out and get some actual action going.
Reducing the regular season really makes too much sense. 82 basketball games is way too much. Just so hard to contract like that cause that’s less money.
How do you not attack Harden on defense every time down the court? He could barely move.
If he’s vaxxed should not be a long drawn out affair but if is big word.
the only NBA games that I enjoy watching are play-offs, competitive series only. regular season games are too boring to watch more than 1 minute.
Exactly…and how do you not put Giannis on Durant when he started heating up late?
Don’t watch a ton of NBA, but isn’t Giannis much more of a rim protector and help defender than a one-on-one perimeter defender?
Yes. PJ has been fine on Durant. If they had put Giannis on Durant it just would have pulled him away from the rim, and they would just ballscreen it and get a switch if they had to.
Yeah, Giannis got roasted by Durant in the first two games. He’s a better one on one defender against players that use strength.
Agreed – it’s about the money. Hard to imagine a reduction in games unless everyone involved takes a paycut. But I do think that teams are packing it in for certain games and that that’s a bigger problem now than 10 years ago. Reggie’s tweet there is an example of saying the quiet part out loud.
In my ideal world, you get rid of conferences and divisions, true round robin home and away play like most soccer leagues. That’s 58 games. 16 team best of 7 like you have now. Then have a mid season tournament with 4-5 team groups, home and away games with that. Single elimination knockout tourney after that.
Get rid of back to backs. You have fewer games but each game is a little more meaningful. Some teams wouldn’t take the mid season tourney seriously but that’s fine.
But that’s just Reggie, who is a terrible commentator, asking a question, and pretty much everyone online has said what he’s asking is dumb.
The midseason tournament just doesn’t work for me. I don’t see the point. I get that it sounds cool but I just don’t see it working or mattering. I like the schedule proposal though. Getting rid of the conferences would also make the regular season more important since it’ll be the top 16 teams getting in.
That’s spot on, but at the same time Giannis is one of only two people on the planet that is ~ 6’11” 240 with a 7’3” wingspan and has the lateral quickness of a guard/wing. Him standing in the corner guarding Joe Harris while watching the religious experience that was Kevin Durant’s second half last night unfold is crazy to me.
Just have to incentivize players and organizations to care about it. Bonus for players or extra cap space auto playoff bid with guaranteed home court first round. League could get creative.
And I’m not too worried if some teams don’t care about it. We already have a significant chunk of players that don’t play one game of back to backs.
I think to an extent Reggie’s goal here is to be noticed by being controversial, but load management is a thing and getting thingier by the day.
They really should be attacking Harden all night long. Get Giannis in PnR and get him downhill or get Middleton or whoever can attack him. Yet, they just run the system or let Giannis iso at the top of the keys. It’s frustrating.
