I remember a lot of people being disappointed we didnāt get Justin Pierce for this year, but watching him at North Carolina I donāt think we missed out on too much. I just donāt put too much stock into mid major players transferring up and making a big impact. Iād rather see Michigan go after a transfer that we can get a couple years of eligibility out of and continue to build a great base for the program.
One of the last moves before Beilein said F this and left. North Carolina got that last visit and kid went there.
Jair Bolden would be an interesting one for me. Based on where he played HS ball, Iām guessing Martelli scouted him and may have recruited him at St Joeās. Backed it up by producing decent numbers in a PowerConference last season. Boldenās not a high end game-changer, but heād seem like a guy who raises the floor next season. 8.5ppg with 40% 3PT in 21mpg playing an SEC schedule (plus a good offensive outburst vs Virginia in non-conf play) ⦠on the surface seems like a plug-and-play option to hedge against other options at the guard spot.
Iām more than interested in non-grad transfers but without knowing who the possible candidates are itās tough to get too excited. Not to mention the immediate eligibility uncertainty.
Another grad transfer mentioned in that top five list for Michigan (albeit with no real basis).
This is interesting too. Former top-40 prospect. Three-year starter at Wake Forest and struggled with injuries last season, but averaged over twelve points and 6.5 rebounds.
Former 4 star 6ā5 SG
Bajema was born in Grand Haven. So you were close.
What percentage of the transfers do you guesstimate were stars/top 3 players at their former schools? If that percentage is high, the conclusion that their usage rates and rates of fouls drawn dropped doesnāt seem all that stirring.
One name off the board, another who has been hearing from schools that arenāt Michigan.
I know there has never been a connection to Michigan, but it is a name people in this thread have mentioned before.
I think I would wait to pursue any transfers (grad or regular) until the vote takes place in May on if the one time no sit out transfer rule is approved or not. If it is, there could be a serious influx of transfers to hit the portal that are worth pursuing. It will be important to have at least the one scholarship open that we are sitting on now.
Okay, I asked the question when Haarms listed UNCG, so Iāll ask here: any idea why Santa Clara is in this list with three power conference programs?
Maybe he just wants another school nicknamed the Broncos?
But just looking through the coaching staff their head coach was with Pitino at Kentucky and Providence and was the head coach at ASU for James Harden. Both of their top guards transferred out to USC and Notre Dame which means if a waiverās granted heās probably going to see a ton of minutes in a conference that has more marquee match-ups than the MAC under a coach with proven guard development. Plus, living in the general Bay Area seems like an easy enough sell.
I miss the Jalen Coleman vs Duncan Robinson threads! /s
I actually wouldnāt mind a serious look at Coleman-Lands. Seems like he could come in and play rotational minutes at the 2 spot and provide shooting at least. 36% career from three on high volume, Although he shot a horrid percentage the last two years at DePaul.
