2020 Transfer Market

Re: chaundee brown although if I recall correctly their situations were slightly different (?)

Similar, but the big difference was that Brown entered the transfer portal before Manning was officially fired. I do think there’s a general sense that if you approve Sarr’s waiver, you probably have to approve Brown’s.

Harbaugh should do Juwan a solid and just announce that Chaunde Brown is going to play QB for us this year. That seems to be the key to getting the waiver…then Brown can come down with a hangnail injury and have to focus on basketball. What could go wrong?

Prediction: every waiver candidate except Brown gets to play immediately.

Could be a name worth monitoring. Belmont is also a pretty good school academically as well.

Supposedly wants to redshirt too, could be good guy to add for some experience in 2021.

I’ve seen Kunkel play in person a few times; worked & watched a handful of OVC games the last few years. Belmont tries to schedule aggressively, but it’s a big jump from OVC to Power Conference.

The upside to Kunkel is Stu Douglas — I don’t know if Junior/Senior year Stu would be a good fit for Coach Howard’s system? If we were running Coach Beilein’s system, yes. Since Michigan isn’t, it seems like a lot of risk to tie up a scholarship slot for 3yrs?

He had 35 against BC and 16 against Alabama. Those were their two high-major opponents last year. I only saw him play in that thrilling Ohio Valley final against Murray State though. He had 23, 20, and 16 against Murray.

FWIW

I worked the Belmont/Bama game. Kunkel wasn’t good; 7-21 shooting and that didn’t tell the full story of his struggles. It was supposed to be a close game and Bama won by 20 despite not looking that impressive.

Very interesting. First denial I can recall seeing.

Pitt would like a different magic 8 ball to be used.

Sarr finally submitted his waiver. Gotta think it lines up with Chaundee’s.

Makes me wonder if Wake slowed the process in some way? That’s completely speculative of course.

Saw a tweet with the numbers a few weeks back. Was something like 120 pending waivers, 115 approved, and like 8 denied.

Seems like the waivers that have gotten denied have been ones where the last school hasn’t given its blessing. I wonder if UM and UK worked together on the Saar and Brown waivers.

Had the same thought. Wondering if discussions / negotiations occurred between UM-Wake and Kentucky-Wake to ease through the process and confirm Wake not objecting to the waivers.

This should definitely assuage the “why are they submitting so late??” fears. I’m sure Cal and Howard were working together on this. And it obviously means we aren’t submitting late because our AD is doesn’t know what they are doing.

That would finally explain the delay in submitting the waiver. Hopefully it’s a sign that they have Wake’s sign off on the waiver. I still don’t understand why that is even relevant to the NCAA’s decision but the NCAA never makes sense.
