2020 - F - Isaiah Todd (Commit)

Dylan’s right that we may want to wait another game before anointing Isaiah, but I am certainly rooting for him. And I’ll bet he’s gone if he maintains this very early-season pace. He was always an under-rated defender, where Iggy often struggled.

We’ll see I guess, I didn’t think Poole, DJ Wilson, Iggy etc were draftable either and look what happend.

True. Neither did I

Danny Green has started for two NBA champions and cant dribble. The question is if Livers can guard threes - the creating won’t matter.

Iggy is hardly playing for one of the NBA’s worst teams (Knicks) and Poole is shooting 25% from both 2’s and 3’s for currently one of the worst teams (Warriors).

You don’t need to be a stellar performer anymore to play in the NBA.

Had meetings all day, check the message board for the first time only to see 30 new comments in Isaiah Todd’s thread.

Panic that he decommitted.

Realize it’s just a nice thorough discussion about Isaiah Livers’ NBA prospects.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Probably did not expect Poole to leave either

It seems like the NBA wants tall, athletic, sturdy built guys who are elite shooters. Livers seems to be all those things.

I’ve been going on the presumption that for UM to have the type of season we’d all like, either Livers or Wagner will have strong options to go pro after this season. But I’m still probably more “bullish” on the remaining roster heading into the 2020-21 season.

Biggest areas I think the team needs help is with “bigs” … if Todd shows up in Ann Arbor, that gives a huge boost to the depth, but I still think another “5” is an area of need … Dickinson would very much satisfy that need.

With either Livers or Wagner, plus DeJulius, Jackson, Brooks, Bajema, Nunez, there’s a deep, quality base at the 1-3 spots … new recruits on the perimeter are much more luxury options than need options, in my opinion. Clearly a recruit like Miller or Walker or Christopher would improve team outlook next season, but I still like the base returning.

I feel the opposite to be quite honest, but perhaps it’s because I’m taking Todd and Dickinson as givens as of now.

I think with Johns, Castleton, Todd, Dickinson, at least 2 of those guys are going to emerge as really effective players, and to split 80 minutes amongst them really isn’t much of a problem. Then you have Livers who has the potential to return as well so if you factor him in there’s a chance we have “too much” talent if that’s even a thing.

From the 1-3 positions however, you’re going to be missing your best player and someone will have to step up first of all, which will be really hard to do given that Simpson is one of the best in the country. Could be Jackson, could be Brooks, could be DeJulius, will likely be a committee. With Bajema and Nunez, you have two guys that aren’t going to play too much this year at the 2 (as opposed to Johns/CC at the 4/5). The only positive I would assume is Franz, who will likely stay for a couple of years, as he’s going to a be a major player next year.

But I am glad to hear that someone disagrees with me, because it tells me that I might just be overreacting to our need for guard play next year.

I’m on your side. Still think a dynamic shot creator at the 2 is the biggest need.

IF Dickinson signs in the early period and Todd remains on-board, then I agree the list of “needs/wants” reshuffles and a creative 2-guard moves to the top of the wish list.

But even w/o an addition at 2-guard, I thought Bajema had that skill set in his HS repertoire — a matter of getting him in Camp Sanderson and getting him up to college speed. And from practice/scrimmage reports, it also sounded like Wagner has shown signs of providing quality production to the wing.

We still desperately need a wing or two who can create for themselves and others. Not sure we have one yet.

Maybe this will put a few people at ease

If he was firmly commited he would sign.

I’m assuming the “she” being referenced here is Isaiah’s mom?
