Would love that if so. Still skeptical that the NCAA won’t just drag their feet on it
It benefits Michigan, it will get pushed back a year.
So you start recruiting guys on other rosters now, in hopes the rule is changed in May?
Smith 25 / Brooks 10 / Zeb 5
Brooks 24 / Wagner 10 / Bajema 6
Wagner 22 / Livers 18
Livers 14 / Johns 15 / Williams 11
Davis 15 / Dickinson 15 / Johns 10
This is a combiation of what I would do and what I think Juwan will do. Most likely I guess Nunez will sneak in there somewhere and Johns won’t play enough 5
Silver lining, If someone told me when Juwan got the job that in his first year he’d recruit a top 10 class nationally and the #1 class in the Big 10 I’d have been ecstatic! I think we’ve got 4 guys who are going to be fantastic long term players at Michigan and hopefully in the future we’ll be able to supplement that with some 5* talent.
I’m just banking on Livers leaving at this point because nothing good is happening to this fan base this year.
Smith (25) Zeb (15)
Brooks (32) Nunez (8)
Wagner (32) Bajema (8)
Johns (25) Williams (15)
Dickinson (20) Johns (5) Davis (15)
Does that team make the tournament? I don’t think so unless Johns breaks out
This is about how I felt when Poole and Iggy left and our high hopes for the next season had to be massively downgraded
Seems really rough. That feels like a bubble team all year.
Not saying it happens, In fact I think it’s pretty unlikely but a 2021 to keep an eye on would be Moussa Diabate Top 10-20 player. There’s been chatter he could reclass up and Michigan was one of the teams being mentioned awhile ago. Jaden Hardy is another but I doubt that one happens. His brother is at Oregon. If he stays in 2021 I think he goes to Kentucky. Diabate has the size to legitimately play the 4 or 5. Again, super unlikely though. Add to it the fact that no one can currently take the ACT/SAT so unless these kids already took and passed them, they have zero shot of reclassifying up unless the NCAA makes some waivers.
Also of note, don’t put all the eggs in the Livers is coming back basket please. Just because he may not get a guaranteed contract from the draft he could still end up with a guaranteed contract. See Kendrick Nunn for Miami being most recent and very successful.
If god forbid Franz or Eli get injured, you can kiss that team’s tourney hopes goodbye.
I think you could say Johns or Wagner breaks out and they sneak in. I think we’re all forgetting that Franz could make a huge leap from last year to this year and have a Stauskas-type season. I know it’s not the “likely” outcome, but it’s a possible outcome imo.
Yikes. That’s not a good lineup. Livers’ decision will be massive.
Nunn didn’t get a guaranteed contract until his 2nd year out of college. The Warriors released him (for the Heat to claim him) specifically because it was unguaranteed.
Might just make more sense to give one to a different walk on who’s graduating anyway (Baird?). That way you keep the scholarship for the future, reward a hard-working player, etc.
Not much love for Jackson. I hope Smith can do that but transfer history makes me wonder if it is possible
Haha I’m being grilled on another thread for too much love for Zeb and here for not enough love.
I think their minutes could very well flip in the latter half of the season, given Zeb’s progression and how Smith’s game translates. Another possibility if those two aren’t adequate is that we see Eli slide down to PG for some minutes, Wagner to SG for some minutes, and Livers at SF a bit more.
I do think Smith’s ball-handling will be a necessity at certain times. I don’t see anyone else being as capable as him.
LOL. I left 247 a while back, 20 yr member but couldn’t deal with the BS anymore, have fun over there.
Oh I meant another thread on here . I don’t post on 247 as often as I post here for sure. Tons of BS there. MGoBoard is worse though in my opinion.
I could be wrong, but I have a hard time believing that both Zeb and Cole are in the rotation (I doubt either would have been had Christopher come). I’m not hazarding a guess at which one is in.
