The wording of LSU’s statement is pretty clear. They either had to reinstate him or fire him.
If LSU fired him today, they’d have to buy out his contract. If they wait until after an investigation, they can very likely fire him for cause and will owe him nothing. I’ll be surprised if he coaches another game there.
Is there a ton of evidence that Memphis is dirty? It seems like their big recruiting coup so far is a result of signing a massive recruit who is from Memphis.
Not technically yet, but when you’re getting guys based on AAU connections and the school recently went 16 straight years with two coaches who are explicitly dirty, it’s tough to believe they aren’t.
