RJ Hampton to New Zealand (in the Australian NBL), FWIW.
Hopefully that helps with Wilson. Obviously playing with his friend at Kansas could have been a draw.
The FBI investigation starts showing its effect.
Why the hell not. Sports-mad culture, beautiful place and some coin to enjoy it with. Like a gap year, as they say in the UK.
Plus he can take a journey to return the ring into the fires of Mt. Doom if he so desires.
What does this have to do with the FBI investigation?
Now UNC likely gets Wilson in addition to Pierce. Curse you and all Tar Heels!
Okay, please excuse the bitterness and bile @tarverine. I’ve had more than my share of bad news this morning, beyond college basketball.
I’ve read zero to believe Wilson is likely unc bound
He’s visiting Kansas and UNC, so barring an eleventh hour surprise, especially if Yaklich is indeed gone, as per today’s rumblings, it will be one or the other. Kansas fans are thinking their chances took a big hit when his friend Hampton spurned them for the other side of the world, and I’m seeing UNC fans gaining confidence that they will land him. We shall see.
I thought it was curious that the visit isn’t for another month and change, and is over July 4th. July 3-5, I think I read.
- I think he’s going to recommitt if Juwan does a even half way decent job of selling his vision and coaching staff
We still have more things going for us imo than the other options. Family was Michigan fans, fab 5 coach aboard, immediate route to playing time, familiarity to the university and players, and the chance to be good next year.
It’s very hard for me to separate wish from expectation. Wilson’s pal isn’t in the mix, so that’s great. Wilson wanted Juwan to come to him and sell him on his vision, but if he’s looking for that in-person contact he apparently needs to come to A2. If Juwan can get him back on campus, that’d be great.
With Wagner too. Wagner’s concerns weren’t particularly basketball-sensitive. He was talking about the experience and the life that Mo had and loved so much, vis-a-vis being just all about basketball and development with Alba. So it’s easy to dwell on that and let the hopes speak louder than the realities.
If Franz is still interested in coming to Ann Arbor, but is leery about playing for a coach he hasn’t met, Moe can help. It’s nice to have someone who can talk to NBA players about what kind of a guy and coach Juwan is.
Let’s just hire someone Moe liked from the Lakers staff to seal the deal. What’s Luke Walton doing these days?
Coaching the Kings
Whoops, somehow I totally missed that one.
I think it remains to be seen if Luke will be a free man by the time the season starts.
At the very least, I imagine he won’t have a job soon, even the one he just took, and will be radioactive for a few years.
I wasn’t aware of issues with Walton, so I did a little digging and yikes, yeah, you want to stay away from that one.
Just look at who are in Kansas’s 2019 class.
Any NCAA penalties would be imposed on Kansas long after Hampton was gone. The kid just didn’t want to go to college for a year when he could get paid to play elsewhere.
