Strong. I know he said he will wait it out until another coach is brought in but I know for a fact Kansas is back putting the pressure on him. And his best friend RJ Hampton has a strong shot of going there as well. Wilson and his family won’t wait forever. I’d give it a week tops and he may decommit any day now. Kids can still come back even if they allow him to get his release. And even if Michigan brought in a great coach today, it don’t mean they will want Wilson or Wilson and his family will like the guy. I just think he has too many big time suitors in more stable positions that can offer him just as much as Michigan can/could.
247 has some crystal balls for him going to Kansas already. Not great, Bob.
It is sad to be potentially be losing good recruits because the hiring process is more than likely going to be longer than we all anticipate
is Cole going to be de-committing as well
At this point it’s all just speculation.
more than likely getting de-commits and then having to re recruit them after a new hire is my prediction.
I should just quote this post in about 7-10 different active threads here.
Didn’t these guys all sign their commitment letters? Is it up to Michigan to let them out of them?
Most schools don’t release kids until they meet the new coach.
Seems like it’s just a formality these days that kids will be let out of the LOI if they want out. Makes the program look bad and honestly if a kid doesn’t want to be there it’s often not good for the team anyway.
I hope he’s ready for the NBA right now, then, because Bill Self has about the worst record of player improvement I’ve ever seen.
Let’s not act like it’s the kid’s fault. He chose the place with the best player development. The coach bailed on him. So now he’s trying to figure out where he is wanted.
Well, anyone who doesn’t want him at Michigan probably hasn’t seen him play!
This is GREAT news. I hope both of them realize what a great opportunity they will have at Michigan, regardless of who the coach is!
“I mean, it’s MICHIGAN, for gosh sakes!”
Thank you Saddi, Dre and Yak! It has to be really difficult for them because they have just as much uncertainty about their future as the recruits. But it’s one heck of a professional effort to reach out to these kids to keep them in the loop. They have been great assistant coaches and represented the university in a tremendous way.
These guys are just outstanding, and I hope the university, Warde, and all of us know it. Whoever the next coach is I hope he knows it, too, and perhaps rewards them for it. Just my opinion. I think the next coach would be fortunate to have these fine and dedicated assistants, and boy would it provide continuity!
Yeah I don’t usually have much connection or emotional ties to assistants, but these guys are awesome people and winners that I hope can stay.
I apologize in advance for throwing cold water on this, but if these assistants get canned, the first thing they will do is use the relationships with these kids as a parachute into their next gig. It’s a win win for them to keep the relationships strong.
