Saddi Washington and Jon Sanderson were big pluses with regards to Moe’s development. Definitely think Saddi likely has to have the best connection with Franz - Saddi was said to handle the administrative stuff and obviously was the acting coach when Beilein was sick (guessing he handled stuff on the visit.
Juwan Howard to has use showcase his pro developments and demonstrate the pro contacts he has.
There is a big opportunity to play and there is a need for talent.
Definitely think we have the parents, Moe, and Beilein’s recommendation in our corner. I just feel like this is gonna happen.
I don’t feel like it’s gonna happen, but given that you have generally been even more pessimistic than I of late, this gives me some slight encouragement.
I don’t have any inside information or anything but Juwan would have to be a complete idiot to not want Wagner. He’s basically a 5 star recruit. And Juwan is certainly not an idiot.
It has often been repeated on the forum lately that we don’t know what to expect from a Juwan Howard offense. It may be that he doesn’t see Wagner as a fit. Will he fly to Germany to make his pitch like Beilein did? I doubt it.
I very much want Wagner on this team and hope Howard will pursue him with enthusiasm. Lacking any actual information, however, I don’t see how that can be considered self-evident.
I was hoping for a Wilson recommit, Wagner, and Cumberland to fill the three open scholarship spots. The only real news on any potential additions thus far this week, at least from what I’ve seen, has been that Seventh Woods is a possibility, which gives me pause.
Thank you for clarifying that part. When would he be able to do so? Since Franz has already been here on an official visit before Howard was announced as coach, on-campus recruiting doesn’t seem to be an option either, does it?
Also, I may have missed it, but who hosted Franz while he was in AA?
I understand what you’re saying but I just can’t fathom not pursuing a player of Franz’s caliber at this point. He is retaining the assistant closest to the family who will surely advise Juwan to go after this kid. I believe Franz will be on the team next year. Could be wishful thinking but we’ll find out soon enough.
I apologize, Dylan. I’m not a subscriber, so I can’t read the articles. Joined the forum six weeks ago, but have been following this site as a lurker for about three years. I always enjoyed the articles when they were free, but I’m tens of thousands in loan debt from a private grad school and every penny counts. However, the price is perfectly reasonable for the quality of content provided on this site. Maybe I’ll finally break down and subscribe one of these days.
It’s hard at this point, given so many unknowns. Maybe tomorrow clears things up. But, for now, on the topic of what players Howard wants in the 2019 recruiting class, I think the safest and most logical assumption is that his taste in recruits won’t be far off that of Beilein. He’s come from a team that runs a pretty similar offense and surely understands positionless basketball and playing four or five out and the importance of spacing. So amongst all available assumptions about player wants, I think the most reasonable is that he wants Wagner and is doing his best on that front within the rules.
Dylan occasionally runs sales where it’s $24 for the year. $2 per month is nearly impossible to beat! I did not initially sign up when the site went into a subscription model and I’m kicking myself for it still.
Any updated intel on Wagner’s leanings? I’m guessing the longer it goes without word of him officially signing a deal with Alba, the better the odds that Howard & Staff can swing him to Ann Arbor?
I’ll say one thing–Franz did not visit A2 because he wasn’t interested. And while he can hope to become a star with Alba, he can hope to play with the best players in the world in the NBA–and have a glorious adventure–in Ann Aba.
