What if the option is non-shooter or nobody?
There is a chance we go into next season with only 9-10 scholarship players

I’d say Just roll with what we got then. If we bring in others, especially GTs and they don’t play, it’s very possible they could mess with chemistry. And if they don’t offer much different from what others already do it’s just unnecessary space. I think one, maybe two of those scholarships get filled by transfers or seniors though.
I don’t have inside info or anything but I live in Cincinnati and a lot of the Bearcats fans believe Jarron Cumberland is not coming back to Cincinnati. The word is he is okay with G league or overseas options if NBA doesn’t happen for him just yet. Again, just passing along what the feeling is amongst Bearcats fans.
That seems to make sense, considering his coach left and a lot of players transferred as well. Curious if Juwan will have more sets that involve off ball screens for shooters.
how about cumberland comes back, uses hardship of coach leaving and we take both cumberlands at UM
I can’t believe this guy is still in college. Quite the career he has had.
Don’t Robbie Hummel and Jess Settles still have eligibility?
With Cumberland coming back to cincy and his coach gone… any chance both Cumberland’s wanna transfer?
Not sure why Jarron would want to sit out a year and then play a year.
Ah thought a coach leaving opens the door for immediate opportunity
Sit and play 3. Weight/strength was his biggest issue. Still not a bad bench player as a freshman. Apparently got recruited over. He’s been a west coast guy but I wonder if we’ll take a crack.
Would think he would be highly sought after at this stage in the game. Also posted an Instagram story of his old Texas jerseys, FWIW.
His sophomore season was really good. 14.8 PPG, just under 40% from three. Anyone up on Alabama basketball who can provide insight on why he wasn’t as good this year?
EDIT I see now that his sophomore year was at Texas. Maybe just the change in systems.
Career free throw percentage in the high 50’s tells me the good three point shooting from his last year at Texas was likely a bit of luck.
Also didn’t take many. The difference between 64% from his freshman season and the 56% he shot last year was 4 makes.
Agreed that his career FT% seems to indicate he’s not a consistent threat as a shooter. But at this point in roster construction, any PowerConference caliber wing with rotation experience who is immediately eligible should be considered — especially ones with only 1 year of eligibility.
I say that not knowing if Mack fits Howard’s preferred style of play or what type of fit he’d be in the locker room. Just stating a macro level look at available scholarships next season and the potential for available playing time on the wing next season.
Blah, not looking forward to seeing that guy in green/white for two or three seasons.
Not a very typical Izzo player at the PF. Hopefully he plays him at the 3.
FWIW, Izzo’s last two teams have ended up having pretty reliable shooters at the four in Jaren and Goins.
