Would have been really cool imo if CBS had done a shout-out to Sally Hemings along with Thomas Jefferson. You got your George and Martha; John and Abigail, Ronald and Nancy, Barack and Michelle, but poor Sally is relegated to the sidelines.

Just need JB to stick around long enough to get enough at-bats, and I agree…

Soon, I’m confident in that. I actually think Michigan will be an elite team no matter who stays or goes next year.

Your friend is delusional.

Tell him the man on the internet said so.

UVA kinda got screwed on that timeout at the end of regulation. I think Guy was signaling for a TO while his teammate still had possession, but it was close.

Otherwise UVA 100% had the more favorable whistle. That trip on Moretti when TT was up 3 and Guy actually just tripped over his own teammate was massive.

Imagine being a tech fan or the guy with the futures ticket that would have won 300 racks. I’d literally snap

Also why did they call a jump on the Mooney rebound when he ripped it away quickly ( leading to Virginia points) then when they have guy tied up for multiple seconds they don’t call it? Leading to another basket. That , the overturn, , and guy tripping over diakte was bad.

If something like that ever happens to Michigan I might actually snap.

I had pretty decent seats tonight! I have to say, I was in a section full of Texas Tech fans and they literally did nothing the entire game. Virginia was shooting free throws in overtime and they were all sitting down doing nothing. No noise whatsoever. It was baffling. On the other hand we had 3 gentlemen in their 60s sitting in front of us from Virginia that had never seen a championship. I was thrilled for them.

If he was smart at all he would have had a hefty sum on UVA ML to hedge that bet

If I’m not mistaken he did.

I had Texas Tech +445 on the Final 4 futures… Not 300 racks on the line, but a decent chunk of change. I also decided to double down on the Texas Tech Moneyline instead of hedging with UVA.

Not my brightest move.

This is exactly how the rule is supposed to be applied, but slowing replays down to microseconds have changed that. It’s idiotic and something needs to be done about it. Teams are getting screwed out of possessions at the end of games. We have had it happen to us multiple times and I’m sick of seeing it.

Congrats to UVA on a hell of a win last night. I do think they caught a huge break with Owens being nowhere near 100%. That really hurt Tech’s defense.

I think it’s stupid as well but I felt like tech hit a lot of rough calls late so that was was like the cherry on top of the screw job.

The tie up on Mooney with 5 to go wasn’t a real jump ball, Mooney takes it away almost immediately but they call it and it leads to two points. Then culver and someone else have guy wrapped up at half court for at least 1-2 sec longer than the Mooney tie up and they don’t call it, guy rips through and it leads to two more points.

After watching it again VA does get the timeout but they should have been down 7 not three previously so it’s kind of a wash. Then in OT guy trips over diakte and it’s not even close. Instead of tech being up three with ball they are down one , that was huge. If it had even been close or any contact, id be mad still but for it to be such blantaly the wrong call , just hurts the integrity of the game.

After all that tech deserved to keep the ball, especially when you see Jerome run into him at half court to slow moretti. I hate that review anyway but at that point with all the fifty fifty calms and errors in va’s favor you have to give tech the ball again and give them a shot.

They did bit on top of all the suspect calls , the reason tech lost imo was Culver. Culver settled down and got some nice buckets late but his poor decision making killed them all Game. He had the big man open underneath the hoop two on one 5-6 times and only made the right play ( the dish) once and that was with three to go.

He instead kept trying to take it himself over the big man numerous times instead of dishing. Had Owens been there he would have gotten 3 or four lobs for dunks.

Add in his hero ball pull ups from three early in the shot clock over and over and he wasted at least 12-13 possessions and it really cost them.

It shows just how great that team was. Had Owens been a hundred percent and culver played with in himself and I think they win comfortably.

All in all last night showed me that tech was by far the best team in hoops at the end of the year.

One last question. With one second to play why is your most clutch/ best tough shot maker inbounding? He’s the guy you want shooting a contested pull up in that spot.

Injuries are a part of the game so saying had Owens been healthy they would win is kind of hollow, IMO. Virginia likely doesn’t lose to UMBC last year had DeAndre Hunter not been injured in the ACC Tournament title game. But he was and they did. And yeah, Culver didn’t play well but I’d say that UVA’s D had at least some hand in that. It wasn’t just him deciding to not play well just like Michigan didn’t decide they wanted to play horribly against TT in the Sweet Sixteen. What TT did to folks in the NCAA Tournament was justly well-publicized but UVA is no slouch on the defensive end themselves.

Hunter shut Culver down. UVA is the best team in the country.

I think Culver sort of showed he’s going to have a hard time getting around NBA-level defenders (Hunter is an NBA level defender). If Culver is a top 5 pick, this draft is…not good.

Va ‘s d is great but Culver’s decisions weren’t great most the game. They don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

I also don’t think va was the best team at seasons end. I genuinely feel bad for Auburn and tech and the way those two games played Out. It is what it is.
