Jordan Poole - legit B10 player IMO, these are the type of guys we should be prioritizing moving forward, guys in the 50-75 range
Offers:
Jaren Jackson (4/5) - not coming here so don’t bother
Kyle Young (PF) - don’t know how much mutual interest is there (based on my own OPINION, I think Young appears to like Butler); would be a great fit at UM and bring the rebounding/size/skill combo that we sorely need at the 4 spot
UM Showing Strong Interest:
Jamal Cain (SF) - JB has viewed him personally 2-3 times, he’s visited no less than 3 times…have no idea what the holdup is on the offer. Again, this is the type of kid we should be targeting - a 50-75 type player that fills the need for a legit 3 with some playmaking ability and athleticism.
Jarrod West (PG)- he’s visited at least twice, JB has viewed him at least twice as well; have no idea why the staff is giving him a hard look considering our scholarship situation and obvious need for raw talent and athleticism
Danilo Djuricic (PF) - has visited, staff has viewed him at least 3 times; not on the same level in terms of skill/athleticism in relation to Young or Cain. Appears to be comfortable mixing it up in the paint, but I’m not high on him
Just curious what we actually do know about Jaren Jackson. Just seems odd to have offered him when Beilien has offered so few prospects. What has changed drastically about his situation that we know that he isnt worth bothering with anymore?
Dad went to Georgetown, is from Indy and IU has offered, and we appear to be a team in decline that doesn’t utilize bigs on offense…doesn’t seem to be much there. Haven’t heard Jackson mention UM recently
I’ve said before that Eastern would be a great pickup, and he’s right in the sweet spot in terms of ranking and upside. Think the staff should look at him more closely. Not holding breath.
Tugs is either a MState guy or out of state to a traditional power… and i agree with you. He plays soft and disinterested at times, but all the physical tools are there besides his left hand dribble.
Haven’t responded to you because of the nature of your posts (don’t take that the wrong way, trust me)…but you are essentially confirming to folks what I’ve been saying around here for years. All of our/your takes have been well known in the city for years.
lol… i like to frequent Um/State sites just to get a pulse on the programs and what the vibe is… I’ve seen a lot of misinformation here and on state sites and its not fair to the kids when these crazy scenarios are thrown around… but if you already know everything going on you don’t need me here lol
Maybe we can all agree, we need to stop recruiting 200+ rated players and get guys who can contribute right away. If not contribute, push the guys in front of them to be better.
I certainly appreciate your takes and information…and think its a valuable tool to guage where UM is and perhaps why. Another kid that is going to blow up as an upperclassmen in college (much like Jaylen Reynolds) that neither UM/MSU are showing serious interest to - Ike Eke (UDJ). Kid has motor for days, ridiculous length, good verticality…just has that dog in him. He hedges on pick and roll extremely well for a HS kid, and blocks/alters shots on a consistent basis. What he lacks is footwork/back to the basket game…he’s a garbage man on offense right now. Xavier is going to end up making that kid an absolute monster.
He’s the type of kid that every program could use and that Umich doesn’t seem to ever have… he knows his role and plays it well and is a serious athlete.
He won’t ever be D1 due to size, but I’m a big fan of Kareem Murray (Western)…kid goes all out on defense, his motor is just ridiculous on the defensive end. Good spot up shooter, can put the ball on the deck off a closeout. Most likely a D2 kid, but I’m a big fan. I’ve watched him put clamps on Cassius a few times…Winston was noticeably frustrated because he couldn’t get separation on Murray.
Well they haven’t offered yet. Not sure if its because he hasn’t submitted transcripts or because he hasn’t taken an official, but I wouldn’t hold out much hope with him if Sparty offers.
Quick Kyle Young article that mentions us, he is obviously one of our top targets. Going to be an interesting summer for recruiting, need impact players with limited spots but who knows with how our program goes up and down.
Ha never thought I’d hear Eke mentioned on here. High upside, but there’s a reason he’s not getting a ton of interest. Great athlete, but he’s literally only a garbage man right now and is about 6’7" or 6’8" and skinny.
Skinny…right now. Muscle tone and ability to add weight to that frame while not losing mobility is obvious. That is a high major D1 big in terms of hedging on pick and roll, blocking and altering shots, multiple efforts on the glass, and just motor in general. He doesn’t necessarily get a chance to show it in game situations because of how he’s used, but Eke actually has a decent mid range jumper. These are the type of bigs that we should be targeting if we’re going to play 4 out and 1 in…necessary to have someone that can defend the paint and stop penetration.
