2016 Wing Recruiting (Ibi Watson)

New Film on Murray

Battle returned from foot injury; looked good apparently

Not just about pts. Tyus Battle 14 in long-awaited return for Gill St Bernard's. Knights beat Ridge 70-37, after losing 51-37 without him

I was very impressed with the way Tyus Battle played in his first game back from injury. Looked like the same HM prospect he's always been.

Some show Murray as a potential point guard others as a Two; any thoughts or comments? To me he looks like a strong kid that has Deron Williams potential.

No way he is a 2 in my view. Simply doesn’t have the handle, change of direction or lateral movement to be an effective PG. Strictly a 2, but a very good 2.

UM among 3 recruiting Langford the hardest according to Daddy Langford. Would be HUGE to pick up Langford - seems to be legit and serious mutual interest

Hughes claims “education is #1”, wants immediate playing time and intense fan base at games.

Education - check
Immediate PT - most likely
Intense Fan Base - not happening

2 out of 3 for us

In his second game back from a serious ankle injury, 6'6" five-star junior Tyus Battle @kidmamba23 scored 20 points. http://t.co/BjPNqnZMZn

Depends on your definition of “intense”. Crisler is an impressive environment for big games. If he blows up and the other suitors become Kansas, Indiana, Syracuse, MSU, etc. I’ll agree with you, but as it stands now Michigan’s more of a basketball school than any of his options.

Could definitely do worse regarding fan base. Places like Florida and UCLA are abysmal.

Agree with both of you guys, Crisler is decent relatively speaking, but certainly not on par with the schools that JP references in addition to a few others. Just feel like we have a ‘wine and cheese’ crowd for all sports. We need an infusion of youth in my opinion, perhaps now that DB is gone, attending UM sporting events will become affordable.

Michigan basketball is affordable if you don’t mind sitting in the upper bowl sections. Even lower bowl is relatively affordable (Breslin is more expensive), but the priority points to get those seats means that donors and long time football season ticket holders get dibs. That makes for an older crowd of less enthusiastic fans. I barely got into the lower bowl after 35 years as a season ticket holder. I don’t see any reduction coming in ticket prices. Crisler is great for big games, but mediocre for other games. Too many no shows.

Couldn’t agree more, I am a season ticket holder as well…and for the most part, the atmospher is lackluster with late arriving crowds with the exception of the big games of course.

Need to have the entire student section in the lower bowl, much like Cameron Indoor, would make for a much more hostile environment that recruits like to see. The 5-6 sections in the upper bowl that are reserved for the students just make it so disjointed. Crisler is such an intimate venue (no suites) even with renoviations, the place could get so loud if we had more youth and a student section exclusively in the lower bowl. Crisler is absolutely great from a viewing standpoint, honestly don’t think there is a bad seat in the first 32-33 rows, and even 32+ is great if you aren’t behind the backboard. Just wish the crowd was more engaged on a game to game basis.

Appears that UM is in the preliminary interest phase with Hughes much the same with Cook. Requesting transcripts, film, etc.

I like Frankie Hughes. I wouldn’t be mad at ending up with him at all.

Hughes is decent, but one dimensional at this point. We desperately need guard/wing players on this roster that can penetrate with the dribble and create good looks for the team. I think Hughes can potentially develop into that, but unfortunately it will probably take him 3 years to do so. He is VERY similar to THJ in HS. We need guys to come in and contribute immediately, or we are going to have another season(s) similar to what we are experiencing now in my opinion.

2016 5 star guard Josh Langford will be visiting Auburn this weekend. The student section needs to make sure we want him! @AUJungle

Auburn, yuk. Bruce Pearl is a slime ball. I know it’s an in state school for Langford, and Pearl is having a lot of success recruiting, but Pearl and Beilein are polar opposites.
