2016 Wing Recruiting (Ibi Watson)

Even with all of the Nike pull of Oregon, I'm with Matt in the thought that this actually aids M in his recruitment. If he's waiting to see what Caris does, ( and he does leave ) I like our chances. We'll see.

Not just Nike, one of his former AAU coach/program directors is on the Oregon staff.

Subliminally implied.

@chezaroo Gotcha.

I like that tweet regarding our standing with Murray, but he’d better reclassify fast. Don’t we only have one open scholarship right now for 15’, which appears to be going to Vagner, I mean Wagner??

Doesn’t sound like he’s going to commit anywhere until August. We have 1 assuming max does not come back but Caris and hatch are two other possibilities of not being on scholarship…

I have to assume that Hatch going on medical is already decided. Or JB already knows someone is transferring, or Caris is leaving early. If none of that happens and Bielfeldt comes back, we have 0 open scholarships.

That appears to be the reason that the Bielfeldt situation is up in the air. The implication is that Michigan will give the scholarship (and Caris’s, if he leaves) first to the guys they’re pursuing - Wagner, Brown, Murray, perhaps Cook - and if one or more remains open, Max can claim it if he wants.

It does not seem like Hatch will move to a medical scholarship, from all the comments from Beilein and others.

Jamal Murray is playing in the Nike Hoop Summit with the World Team

New film and interview with Frankie Hughes…no mention of UM. Hughes is still not a person you want handling the ball based on the film below. However, man does he have a pretty jumpshot. Very good balance, great elevation, great arch and rotation…just a very consistent and nice looking jumper. This kid appears to be a THJ clone to the extent that his handle is very suspect but he can definitely shoot off the bounce from a screen or catch and shoot situations with plus verticality.

Second clip - actual game highlights don’t start until after 4 minute mark

Daddy Battle seemingly not impacted in the least by Syracuse sanctions, in fact Tyus may be visiting in a few weeks. Think it’s safe to say they are in his top 2 if they have a scholarship for him. Daddy Battle wants Tyus to play lead guard, and Syracuse is only one of 3 schools recruiting as such…UM is not. I’ve said it for a while, but I don’t think we have a realistic chance with Tyus.

As anticipated, JB stayed at Cleveland State (first game was Teske/Medina vs Shaker Heights) to watch Frankie Hughes…he’s most likely our plan B type guy if we dont’ get one of Murray/Langford.

John Beilein was at the lake game tonight..

JB is damn sure trying to land one of Langford, Battle, Murray (I think that is the order of preference as well). Have to pull one…just have to

Also of note, Murray is squaring off against Prolific Prep (Josh Jackson)…would love to see some film on that game!

He wasn’t joking about hitting the road hard after the season ended.

You know who's really good?Jamal Murray.5 star often gets overlooked playing with Maker but he may be the best offensive player on this team

Josh Jackson finished with 21 points & nine rebounds. Thon Maker had 17 and five rebounds. Jamal Murray had 22 and seven rebounds. All great

The silver lining of missing the NIT is Beilein can hit the road hard. Hopefully it can tip the scales and we can get the 1-2 elite pieces we need to be a force for the next 3-5 years.

Glad to see the love for Murray, he can play. Still don’t believe he’s an option if reclassifying to 15, unless he knows Caris is/has gone.

Well he probably won’t make that decision until late-summer, so he would know one way or another.

Update with Murray, nothing new really. As Dylan said, he’s not making a decision anytime soon. Wants to play PG in college. Would have to assume UM offered as such to be considered a leader/co-leader.

If he does reclassify to 15, can he wait till the end of the summer to make a decision on a school? That sounds odd that he could wait till a few weeks before classes start to enroll somewhere. Aren’t there much earlier deadlines for committing and be eligible to start classes in August/September and play later?

The Dillon Brooks approach. Same AAU program. Played the whole summer with CIA Bounce, committed to Oregon in August.

RT @megkayrich: Jamal Murray finished with 39 points in Orangeville Prep's 90-83 OT win vs Primeville Prep.

Murray’s profile just continues to expand and grow. This kid can just flat out play. I don’t care about measurables and eye popping athletic ability shortcomings, he just is often the best player on the floor, that is often loaded with tons of D1 talent.

With Winston having one foot in Breslin already, Murray should be getting all of our attention now.
