I just received a call from Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton offering Frankie Hughes a basketball scholarship. WOW - ACC

Ditto on Bruce Brown…his cousin signed with UCONN though and being a northeast kid, will be a tough pull. That being said, would be a great addition. Still has the option of reclassifying to 2015 just like Jamal Murray does.
I like our chances with Murray. Oregon just got Tyler Dorsey who is basically the same type of player and has a 4 star pg in the 2015 class. MSU has about 7 wings in the last couple classes. ALthough MSU has more PG minutes available which will appeal to him. The only silver lining of Swanigan choosing MSU is that he’d take MSU’s last scholly.
Sounds like we’re going to have to wait through the SUmmer to get an answer on Murray which doesn’t bode well when the bigger programs look at him as a Free Agent. He’d be a day 1 starter for us at the 2 though if Caris leaves
Has Brown or Murray ever been on campus?

Murray took an unofficial for a game last year I believe. Not a full visit, just a game visit.
Update with Langford post UK visit. Says he doesn’t have a UK offer and UK isn’t recruiting him hard. Decision doesn’t appear to be coming any time soon.

Is it possible Michigan could get Murray and Langford or is it more likely one or the other?

Save getting a Jaylen Brown who will be the clearest one and done Beilein has ever recruited, it has to be expected that an off-guard recruited in the 2015 class would have impacts to the decisions of the 2016 offerees.
My favorite quote of the Langford article is the insinuation that, some how, some way, Calipari manages to scratch and claw his guys into the NBA Draft. Frankly, I’m not sure how he does it!

Almost certainly a zero sum game here for 2 reasons:
a) both will play a nearly identical role and only separated by 1 year, or same class
b) UM presumably has only 1 scholarship remaining
One or the other, not both

That’s what I figured. This can be a question for all would people prefer Murray in 15 or Langford in 16?

Depends if Caris leaves. All things equal, based on talent alone, I would take Langford. That being said, we need an athletic wing that can create desparately, and I’d take the first one to sign up.
Murray absolutely wants to be a one and done. His dad has mentioned a couple of times that he would prefer that route if available. It’s not. It remains to be seen if he has the game to do so after a year in college, but his profile is increasing rapidly. If he indeed reclassifys to 15, it would seemingly support the narrative that he is looking at the fastest lane possible to get to the league.
Clarification. He would prefer to skip college and go right to the pros. That route is not available.
In that case, decrement expectations for Michigan.

If he truly wants to be one and done via the college route, I think UM is the path of least resistance in relation to MSU and Oregon. Oregon just landed Dorsey, who is just as talented as Murray. MSU has Harris and a plethora of SGs coming in. From that standpoint, I like our chances a bit more, but Im not holding my breath either.
Even with all of the Nike pull of Oregon, I’m with Matt in the thought that this actually aids M in his recruitment. If he’s waiting to see what Caris does, ( and he does leave ) I like our chances. We’ll see.
Here’s where I’m coming from:
If we were talking about a 2-3 year timeframe, then I would def agree with you. If we’re talking about a 1 year timeframe, then (a) it’s dependent on Caris leaving, which immediately cuts a big percentage off the probability, and then (b) JB and staff have always said they want kids that want to unpack their bags in college. Of course, if someone is good enough to go pro after one year, then more power to them, but kids that are simply using Michigan as a stepping stone may not be pursued.

Not just Nike, one of his former AAU coach/program directors is on the Oregon staff.
I truly think JB is evolving as to having 1-2 year players. He, like any coach is NOT gonna turn down talent that has a sincere interest in coming to your school. Murray can play, and his profile has exploded nationally this year. Overcoming that dreaded Nike connection is going to be problematic though.
