2016 Point Guard Recruiting (Xavier Simpson)

I’m actually glad Coach B isn’t begging players to come, and I hope Jordan (assuming he’s next in line) doesn’t either. That whole story about Coach K crying on McGary’s visit? Good lord, how pathetic.

That is pretty lame, but I am sure there is a happy medium between crying on visits and only recruiting the kids that are running through the door to come to Michigan.

Some of the best coaches have a little of that used car salesman in them, including coach K.

To me it’s nauseating but it obviously works on a lot of kids.

Rivals finally admitting that the poplular opinion is Winston favoring MSU

Maybe Rivals looks at forums like this one to form their opinions haha.

That stuff isn’t a big deal. Coach K is a big game hunter and always has been if he misses on a big target he will just get another one whether it’s Okafor, Chase Jeter, Luke Kennard etc… He has missed on a lot as well but has gotten plenty of highly touted guys.

One thing I find intriguing with the Winston talk is that there seems to be a lot of MSU chatter. MSU is currently starting a freshman PG and just made the final four. Nairn isn’t a great shooter but is a good facilitator, terrific defensively and doesn’t make a lot of mistakes. Winston to MSU and Nairn would only be a junior but Winston wouldn’t go to Michigan and Walton would be a senior? I am surprised PG’s aren’t jumping at the chance to play at Michigan, a great frosh PG could send Walton to the bench.

Obviously Coach K has landed a ton of elite recruits. All I said was I’m glad Beilein doesn’t cry in front of recruits. I don’t care how many elite recruits you land, that makes you look like a clown.

A clown who knows how to play the game. It’s no different than playing office politics. Everyone else can sneer and call you a clown behind your back as you make BS small talk with the managers at happy hour, but at the end of the day, they all want to be in your position. If crying in front of recruits puts Krzyzewski on ladders cutting down nets, then I want our coach to shed some tears.

“If crying in front of recruits puts Krzyzewski on ladders cutting down nets, then I want our coach to shed some tears.” To each his or her own. I cast my vote with the integrity crowd. It’s the “coffee is for closers” crowd who have turned ours into a nation of suburban shills.

Making small-talk with managers is not the same as crying to 17-year olds to pressure them to come to your university. I’m firmly in the win with integrity and dignity group.

This is how the world works, either compete or don’t complain about starting Donnal/Doyle/Bielfeldt

Not directly related to JB, but our football coach makes gestures to the girlfriends of recruits - does that indicate that JH has any less integrity than Urban Meyer or Saban?

Guys… this is a thread about 2016 guard recruiting. Can we get back on topic?

Ramsey is planning to visit Michigan in the fall.

I really like this kid. I think he has a lot of upside. It might be time to turn up the heat on him.

As anxious as I am to complete the 2015 class, I really wish we would get a committment from a top notch PG for 2016.

New film of Winston vs. Clarkston (win) and Western (loss)…I like Winston, and think he’s a very good offensive player. That being said, every time I see him live against legit competition with good D1 athletes (Western) he struggles to get separation and he most certainly has issues on defense. I’m really interested to see how he works out at the next level regardless of what school he chooses.

New interview with Goodin. Does mention UM. Notable that Dad is a Louisville fan. Wants to decide prior to HS basketball season.

Looks like JB is checking out Lamonte Turner(16 PG) from E1T1 (Florida). Notable that E1T1 also has Maverick Rowan, but I don’t think we have legit interest in Rowan at this point. Turner may be one to keep an eye on.

Scott Drew, Bill Self, Johnny Dawkins, John Beilein among head coaches I spot at Pro Skills/E1T1 #EYBL
