Whole staff came into to see Dozier yesterday. Hopefully we made a huge impression
That is good to hear!
Dozier’s father says “still anybody’s game”, but did previously acknowledge a top 3, which presumably doesn’t include UM.
Looks like I may be wrong with the SC pick, but in any event, Dozier isn’t coming to UM…I think it’s fairly certain at this point. I told everyone not to get their hopes up with this kid.
Where does #UofL stand with PJ Dozier? “It’s a very strong possibility,” father says (VIP) http://t.co/2Vc8uy1YJ3 via @247Sports

Hope is a good thing. It’s when it’s mixed up with expectations for things out of your control is when you can get disappointed.
MattD - I missed your follow up comments from yesterday.
First, you have maintained for months that people “don’t remember” the Fab Five and they are irrelevant, but now you say NBA players from a particular school are relevant “as long as they are in the NBA.” Well, I’ve got some news for you - Webber, Jalen and Juwan all retired within the last five years or less. You can’t have it both ways.
Second, save me your stats on Nik’s freshman year and just watch the tourney games. Other than the Florida game - where he was on fire from three - he really struggled and definitely was neither attacking the rim nor passing the ball much. He turned into a passer last year. Burke was the only creator on that team, just like he was the only creator the year before, and Morris was the only one the year before that. Last year was really the only time we’ve had three guys capable of playing lead guard and creating offense for themselves or others.
Would it help to get a Dozier? Of course. Are we heading to the NIT if we “only” have Walton and Chatman as creators next year? I doubt it. We won a Big Ten title share starting Stu at the two and Novak at the four. I don’t think the program is about to fall off a cliff if we don’t get Dozier, though of course I’d love to get him.
LA - you win, I have neither the time or inclination to spar with you this time. Have a good weekend, sir.
Not that I’m holding out much hope, but wasn’t Dozier supposed to announce his decision today?

He was hoping to make a decision this weekend. Sounds like the announcement could be sometime this week. Louisville still appears to be trending.
Dozier announcement set for 12:15 on Weds.
PJ Dozier has made his decision… but no one knows it yet according to his father.

My money is on Louisville. I have no facts to back it up, just a feeling that Louisville is going to land him.
All the insiders think its UL, with SC running a close second
Whatever happens with Dozier, it’s a good reminder that nobody knows much, including the “experts.” A month ago, everyone was sure it was NC. Ten days ago, the experts were sure it was SC. Now, everyone is positive it’s Louisville. And Dozier’s dad claims now that even he doesn’t know. So the experts are either going to have been wrong up until 10 days before he decides or wrong the day of the decision – or both.

Insiders often don’t have any real “inside” info, i.e. word from a close family member or friend who would know. Sometimes they do. In this case, I believe dad that no decision was made until a couple of days ago, at which point PJ was deciding between a final two. Almost everyone thinks the decision will be Louisville. If he doesn’t pick Michigan, it doesn’t really matter what place we came in.
I always maintain insider word should be taken together with other context rather than the sole source when getting a feel for where a recruit is leaning. Other variables, such as visit activity, interviews, what school affiliation the interviews are granted to, family ties etc., all play a role in my formulation of where I think a recruit may or may not end up.

Yup, sometimes insiders really do have “inside”, but even then most of the “experts” or “insiders” don’t and are just following that one guy with the info. So unless someone with a track record really expresses confidence, it’s wise to take predictions and such with a grain of salt. And I’m not suggesting anyone get their hopes up for Dozier today, although I wouldn’t be shocked if he chose somewhere besides Louisville – which itself would be a reminder that that’s what you want, to get one of those visits and then take your best shot and win your share.
I wish college recruiting was similar to the NBA in that you can literally follow one insider for all news and be damn near certain its correct. For NBA news, if Adrian Wojnarowski says it, you can take it to the bank. There are some decent sources for college recruiting, but none come close to Wojo, his word is golden.

Difference is in college recruiting you are dealing with families, handlers, AAU programs and 300+ teams. NBA you are dealing with only 30 teams (better sources) and agents. Agents are the big game changer there.
