Sorry, I’m a bit behind in this conversation, but does Brown have a UNC offer? 247 sports does not report one.
ESPN & Rivals don’t reflect an offer from UNC either. Scout’s new design is so unfriendly I’m not even going to bother checking.
I’m pretty sure UNC is in the same situation that UM is in. Brown acknowledged that UNC was his dream school about a month ago (maybe less). I don’t believe an offer has been made.
This whole thing with Jaylen Brown is unlike anything I’ve seen before in recent recruiting memory. When else has a top 3 recruit’s camp allegedly reached out to two schools that had not previously had any contact?
It really raises a lot of questions for me and I have no idea what’s next for him. I agree with everybody else though that we just need to get him on campus and then go from there.
FWIW, the dam is about to break with the UNC Academic Scandel. I would not be surprised to see the program wind up with a 3-5 year tournament ban and/or more. I can’t see any elite prospects wanting to play somewhere with no post-season aspirations.
Don’t think the academic scandel is going to have much impact, if any, considering the recent precedent set by the Infractions Comm. Unfortunately, the current climate of college sports is such that these things are “just the way it is” at this point.
The national board seems to strongly, strongly disagree. I’m not sure if you have been following the scandel at all, but it is looking VERY bad for UNC. I’m talking death penatly bad. It’s well past the point of getting swept under a rug.
Remember, we thought the same thing with Miami, OSU, OK St…only for nothing to come to fruition. At this point, I’m from Missouri, show me
I think you’re going to be very surprised, then.
I’ll put it to you this way…if PSU didn’t get the death penalty, and is currently bowl eligible…there is no way in hell NC will get the death penalty. Blantant disregard/Malicousness (what is called recklessness in the legal world) in terms of sexual child abuse is certainly more serious in nature in relation to any academic fraud. I’ll stick with my guns, the NCAA has set the precedent for sanctions moving forward with the PSU case…NC will get a slap on the wrist
You’re more than entitled to your opinion, but I’m thinking you’re going to be very surprised. At this point, I’ll be shocked if they just get a slap on the wrist.

UNC reached out to him according to Scout.
I would be very cautious of UNC and Syracuse if I were a recruit until the NCAA clears them.
I rarely agree with MattD, but I do here. After Miami, Penn State, USC, and others got off pretty lightly, I don’t see the NCAA doing much to UNC. We will be disappointed. When Lance Thomas of Duke bought a $90,000 piece of jewelry while still in school, the NCAA basically said, “Nothing to see here.” They are gutless, and UNC is a college basketball power.
Dozier will announce during early signing period on ESPN (probably ESPN U)
Glad he’s announcing early. If he doesn’t choose us, we have time to explore other possibilities if we want to. He would certainly fill our needs nicely, but how we stand with him is still up in the air.

I don’t think that the timing of his announcement will change anything. There are no other '15s on our radar for the backcourt. If he chooses someone else, we just keep recruiting the '16 guards/wings. If he picks us, we keep recruiting the '16 guards/wings. If he waited until April, same thing. Whether his commitment would scare any of the '16 kids off is the only question.
Well, it will depend on what situation we want to leave ourselves in for 2015 at point guard. If Walton leaves early, as he very well might, and we don’t land Dozier, we have Albrecht and maybe MAAR-not a disaster, but not great, either. We might or might not want to get someone else on our radar at PG for 2015. The question is, could we get anybody that much better than Albrecht and MAAR at that point (somebody who could step right in a be a decent starter) without scaring off better 2016 prospects, or would it be better to go with what we have in 2015 (or cross our fingers that Walton stays) and shoot for a big get in 2016 (no guarantee there either). An early decision by Dozier at least gives us time to pursue another option IF we want to, rather than wrestling with late signees again.
Dozier is a guy who could play point in 2015, and slide over to pick up a lot of minutes at the 2 if we land someone like Thornton in 2016, so I don’t think he’ll necessarily drive anyone else away. In any case, I’d take the bird in the hand if Dozier wants to come here, and not bank too heavily on what we might get in 2016.
Been saying it for a few months, but I still expect Dozier to end up at SC.
#Bolt: South Carolina trending for Perry Dozier, Jr., who is visiting Louisville. http://t.co/F9Q4ol8AOl @TheBigSpur247

I have to agree with MD on Dozier, tough for some kids to move North.
