Weird end of game stuff from Olen and I guess that’s exactly what they wanted to do? Get a switch onto Danny to get a step back?
man, watching those UCSD player interviews is tough. real cute moment at the end when they ask if it’s okay if they take their name placards, too. their faces look like they’re getting away with something when they take them.
Nice post-game from UCSD. McGhie’s genuine, plain-spoken answers hit the mark nicely. Gray looks like Patrick Bateman’s little brother, and I half expected him to leap up from the table claiming he had to return some video tapes.
The most real moment had to be Olen’s barely audible “Oh, man” as the players left and he got ready for questions. A reminder that every win is the end of the road for the other team and their fans who have been on the same six-month rollercoaster as UM fans. With 30 wins maybe more ups than downs, but still.
Olen seems like a really good coach. I wonder what mid major is going to take a chance on him. .
Olen has been at UCSD as an assistant or head coach since 2004. He’s only 44, but I wonder what the interest would be until he’s done it at this level a little longer?
also, feels like he might legitimately just like it there and not want to leave. maybe stick around and make himself an obvious choice to take over from dutcher
