The Truth

True, but neither is the premise that UL had more talent and lost. If we were to go objectively down the lineups it would probably look something like this.

Burke>Siva
Smith>Stauskas (at the time, not potential or now)
THJ>Blackshear
Behanan>GR3
McGary>Dieng

Bench:

Hancock>Levert (at the time, not potential or now)
Spike>Henderson

Again, not factual, but I think overall Michigan had a bit more talent than UL, just not enough heart.

The Blackshear (a burger boy) and Dieng comparisons are more than arguable
You also left off Harrell is who is a future first round pick
Ware didn’t play but yet again, he is another top notch player

They had more talent. It’s laughable that people would debate that.

Perhaps you could make a debate about Dieng/McGary, but quite frankly at the time of the tourney, McGary was a much better player. Blackshear was nowhere near the player THJ was last year, that is a complete joke. In no way, shape, or form was Blackshear even approaching THJ’s level as a basketball player last year, I have no idea what the hell you are talking about with that.

You’re right, I did leave off Harrell, because he wasn’t a factor last year. I don’t care if he’s a future first round pick or what he’s doing this year, we’re talking about the talent as it applied to last year’s championship game. You can’t apply the talent retroactively.

Your eyes have deceived you if you think UL had more talent that UM during the champ game last year.

How was Harrell a non-factor last year? UL arguably won the Big East tournament because of him. Foolish statement.

McGary played marginally better than Dieng in the tournament and certainly not as good in the game that mattered the most.

TJHR has better stats but Blackshear is a burger boy so he isn’t some scrub and could very well be playing in the pros one day.

They had significantly more depth. UM might be slightly more top heavy with talent but UL is no slouch in the NBA talent department. I’d go with UL without blinking an eye.
