I agree, I was just wondering if this was a criticism aimed at his entire tenure - which would be highly misguided in my view - or recent years, which is far fairer.
Michigan coach John Beilein: Film from Michigan State loss âsickeningâ
Coach Beilein sounds like Tom Crean did after the M game last Thursday. Life on the road in college basketball can be humbling
On JBâs scale, those are actually pretty harsh comments from him. And real. And most importantly, true.
Some interesting notes on Walton since the Illinois away game:
18.6ppg; 6.2 rpg; 3.2 apg; 64% from 2, 43% from 3. That 2 point FG% is unsustainable in my mind, but heâs been playing much better and consistent these last few games. Heâs been much better attacking and getting to the rim lately. The player we were thinking we would have after his freshman season.
His FTA/FGA stats are also very impressive of late.
Walton is playing just like a senior should be at this point and itâs really satisfying to see.
Now if we can just get 3-5 guys all playing to the best/better of their abilities, consistently, we might just have something. If just one of Zak/DJ/MAAR played a solid game, we win in Breslin. I know environments play their role, but the inconsistency is mind-boggling.
âAs this game continues to evolve, one thing doesnât change,â John Beilein said. âIf youâve got a good post man and you throw it to him it simplifies a lot of things.â
Very good chance that that loss costs Michigan a NCAA Bid.
Hey guys, the offense is fine. Next year without Walton should be fun.
Brooks is gonna need to be a freshman Burke for us to have a decent offense next year.
Well, that was a less than fun experienceâŚ
How did it come to this?
short of a 2011 type finish, this isnât looking good. canât lose the banked wins (favored by 9) and everyone but derrick (who deserves a lot of credit) is regressing.
Outside of Walton, I didnât see much effort out there. I was hoping he would put Teske in so we could at least get a few more rebounds.
Canât teach ( or coach up ) motor and passion. Itâs inate.
I hope some combination of Matthews/Poole/Brooks/Livers have it and gets the chance to show it on court even if not ready in some aspects.
Does anybody know where to find + - stats for the team?
