Rivals reporting that Michigan will not practice until Feb 7 at the earliest
Wow, so they are really just accepting the full two week shutdown and arenât trying to see if they can test out after 7-10 days?
Is this surprising to people? That was always the likely outcome. The state told them not to. And didnât say anything about testing out
Yes, actually. The âup to 14 daysâ part of the ârecommendationâ seemed to leave some leeway to work out a plan of attack for the new strain. So therefore I was hoping common sense and logic would take over prior to the 14 day period. Why even put the âup toâ in the recommendation if it was a hard two weeks?
It still makes no sense to do a half measure like this. Shut down the university, city or county to try to stop the spread in its tracks or use common sense and allow the teams to test out and work out a plan where they donât share facilities. The AD shutdown really doesnât accomplish much of anything when the virus is already out there. Not sure whatâs going to be different after 14 days vs. 7-10 days
Also the statement from the student athlete coalition seemed to suggest that at least somebody is pushing backâŚ
Oops. Chat filter caught me. What I meant to say is that hope is a heck of a drug, and I was taking what I thought was merely a reasonable dose.
Would give you three days to practice before a home Illinois game.
I know a few people here have stressed how the decision isnât as easy as some of us make it seem (in either direction), and that itâs much more complicated than we think. But Iâve sat on this for a few days, and I still canât really comprehend the justification for mandating that humans quarantine for 14 days that donât have a connection to a positive case via contact tracing.
So are we still going to try to play that game on the 11th? At this point weâll basically need a new training camp.
Two weeks to game plan for Illinois and three practices to implement are hopefully enough to get them prepared
I actually have really appreciated Juwan for this. He does pull his mask down to yell stuff, but I donât ever see just his nose hanging out and he seems like he always has the mask on in close quarters.
Dunno if the numbers are in yet, but Iâd bet Juwanâs mask-adjusted efficiency is elite. (Seriously, I agree. He does seem to have good mask discipline.)
I would also add Hoiberg into the good mask discipline category, Greg Gard not so much.
I simply cannot believe Warde Manuel is still employed. Stealing money.
Just surreal to watch so many coaches and refs drop their mask when theyâre talking to each other. Thatâs when you need the mask the mask the most lol. Though being indoors for 2-3 hours together makes the masks far less effective anyways, so I get it.
I just have to chuckle when coaches brag about their protocols when we can see them failing to follow the easiest one on TV for two hours. I just question how well theyâre doing when the cameras arenât there.
A little thing, but add it together with a whole of of other little things and you donât need to be on the inside to make an intelligent assessment of what is going on.
That is what I was referring to with Gard. Either I was reading Juwan or projecting my own disgust on him when Gard kept inching closer while his mask was slipping down. Juwan looked uncomfortable to say the least.
Agreed. And that conversation as a whole looked uncomfortable, Juwan definitely wanted out of that. Wonder what they were even talking about.
Proposed make up schedule:
2/16 Indiana
2/23 MSU
2/25 @ NW
3/1 @PSU
Complete Schedule:
2/11 Illinois
2/14 @ Wisconsin
2/16 Indiana
2/18 Rugers
2/21 @ OSU
2/23 MSU
2/25 @ NW
2/27 @ Indiana
3/1 @ PSU
3/4 Iowa
3/7 @ MSU
This would require Indiana / Minnesota to move from 2/17 to 2/18.
All these days work (Did not check Womenâs Schedule for conflicts, but you could play a day night doubleheader if there was) with no games on back to back days for either team based on the published schedule at each teamâs web site. I came up with this in 15 minutes.
Although the schedule would be tough, they will be able to make it work âassuming no additional issuesâ.
