Need a bit of site feedback

I have precisely the same feedback fwiw, same order and same reasons.

For example, the two new charts sort of tell the story of the UCLA game.

UCLA had 14 more scoring opportunities but Michigan had comically efficient shot making …

… including bombing 30-foot 3s.

UCLA’s shot chart doesn’t strike me as being awful - probably too many shots in the 10 foot range. But man does ours tell a story. 4 shots between 8 feet and the three point line.

Off topic but is there anyway you could implement a dark mode for the site?

Probably a possibility for the message board at least. I’ll check into that.

I think I understand the scoring opportunity plot but I don’t find it intuitive. Maybe it’s better as a waterfall chart? Or as a side by side bar plot where turnovers are always negative? The latter doesn’t do the cumulative thing you’re trying to do but I think being able to see the differences would still tell that story.

Never seen a waterfall chart that I understanded.

Is it just that the number of opportunities – 76 vs 62 is hard to understand? The point is how far the two team color graphs go.

It seems fairly straightforward to me but maybe I’m missing something.

I’d honestly just be good with a shot volume number on the 4 factors chart cause I agree it’s a pretty confusing chart

Wouldn’t a shot volume number just be the same chart?

Not upset about being on the other side of the eternal data viz struggle for once

My choices are points per opportunity and shot distribution.

Thanks… just as a clarification these will (hopefully) all be in some sort of game hub. So you don’t have to necessarily pick and choose.

I’m envisioning the points per opportunity and the opportunities charts being all one big chart.

I just meant like simply the number would suffice for me but I’m not staunchly opposed to the whole thing

Ah yeah, I gotcha. That’s fair.

Postgame recaps or like live throughout season?

it does feel like this would help me modulate emotions during a game

Come on man, that’s no fun. Letting out emotions run all over the place is fun. Of course that is also why I rarely participate in live game threads. :joy:

I’d like to see points rebounds and assists. romeo

Four Factor and Box Score for me.

Apparently an unpopular opinion but I like the scoring opportunities bars!
