NCAA 2019: Michigan vs. Florida Open Thread

When Michigan faces a zone I prefer Eli and Livers to be on the floor. I feel like they’re both really good at moving the ball and finding the open spots.

Florida State and Gonzaga look better this year. Texas Texas def an upgrade over Texas A&M. Tough weekend next week even if Buffalo wins tomorrow

Very true, but those teams need to adjust to us as well.

The big talk this week might be Iggy with only a 5 point outing against a Power Conference team in the tournament. Pundits might ask if he can score against major teams at the tourney level/in a tourney setting.

Agreed. I love iggy but it seems like when he starts the game bad he never really plays himself out of it and ends up being a net negative. I loved the move to livers and would like coach b to go that route anytime iggys struggling hard.

Definitely a down game for Iggy, but he’s had no problem putting up points in non conference (e.g., UNC , Nova) and conference (MSU) against ranked teams.

Agreed, to win it all which I believe they can , we can’t brick open lay ups like that 4-5 times a game. Either way this team is very good. Great squad. The defense and ability to stay vertical when contesting is a work of art.

Hating, what are you talking about? I don’t hate anything about this team. I am sometimes critical of players that don’t listen, regardless of-or especially because of - their talent level.

If your takeaway from that game is “I need to be critical of Jordan Poole” I’m going to disagree loudly. He was 4-9 from three and led the team in scoring and a handful of his misses were late shot clock heaves.

Agreed he’s essential , my only thought process is in the handful of games he struggled bad early he never really got going and I’d prefer livers d, rebounding, and sound decision making/shooting in those moments. He’s such a great six man where it makes sense to go to him if one of Poole, iggy, Mathews struggles hard which they have time to time.

Also thank god that the real Eli is standing up. I firmly believe this is much closer to the player he really is than the one from the rest of the season. I’d like to see him get some more burn down the stretch.

I hope not. Watching the Maryland game was brutal seeing Cowan have drivers blocked by Fernando in the post. Even against short guys I’d love to see us work on the Kobe assist more than post ups.

I’ll just point out that Poole’s four point play in the first half and his and-one layup in the second after the beautiful post feed to Teske were arguably the biggest buckets in the game.

If the UF 247 board is at all representative of their fan base, they know nothing about basketball

Winning easily in the tournament with a quiet performance from Iggy was not expected but that’s a nice development

When I saw the brackets released I was pretty frightened of Florida. I thought they were an underrated squad who just went through lulls this year. The fact Michigan did that and played just pretty good ( great on d as usual) makes me hope we might make a very deep push.

Next two Games will be brutal. All hands need to be on deck.

Lol how many years does he need for you guys to question his shitty coaching? 5, 10? If it was up to you guys Zook, Champ and Mac would have lifetime contracts.

Maybe it’s because I’m in sales, but you either produce or get fired. Stop being betas and accept the fact we’re in need of an ALPHA to lead our program.

This guy’s got high standards:

Next year is his make or break year. Another 9+ loss season and i dont see how anybody could defend him.

If last year’s Michigan team (or the 2013 team) had lost one more game, it would be a “9+ loss season”…
