Agreed, but theoretically their archetype is similar, right? Also I hate comps and poke holes in every one else’s so it’s only right this gets ripped. I haven’t watched a ton of Jackson but knew he was from Michigan so figured some people here like BP had some good thoughts
I guess I was mostly thinking that their frames and heights are near identical. I was pondering over Moussa’s NBA value and what he would need to show or do to be considered a 1st round pick. If he truly isn’t going to be a great rim protector or lob threat, I’m not sure what he brings an NBA team next year
I agree that he’s the biggest enigma in the class. The reason he has NBA potential is because there aren’t many 6’10" athletes like him that are still just starting to figure out their true potential. But that’s the thing…a lot of it is potential.
I can’t even think of a comp. In some ways he’s a bit like GR3 - NBA athlete who oozes potential and everyone knows is going to do something awesome…but not really sure what position he will play, how well he’ll shoot, what he can do consistently…
(Note - I know his game is nothing like GR3, but that guy was clearly an NBA athlete and dynamic to watch but was still figuring things out at Michigan.)
IDK I feel like there are a decent amount of 6’10" athletes like him in the NBA. In this draft alone you have Sengun, Todd, Thor, Jackson, Jones that all have different athletic strengths but are all considered fluid athletes at 6-10 or 6-11. 3 of those guys are first round picks and 2 of them are not. So which of them does Diabate most resemble? Diabate’s play this year will say a lot as far as where he’ll land on draft boards next year
Jones and Sengun have huge offensive advantages on him at the moment. Jackson more of a true rim running shot blocker. I think he’s a bit like Thor defensively but Thor has more of a “bag” which is both a blessing and a curse, because he tries to do way too much and is not particularly efficient because of it.
The AMA I think came up with this but I’m going with JJJ minus the shooting for now? Not a great vertical athlete, but excellent length and lateral mobility. Good IQ. Guessing he’s prob a bit smaller than JJJ across the board. That also makes it easier to think about how the NBA will value him. If he doesn’t show much on offense, he’s playing a position with a really high replacement level and that could really see him drop.
I believe that Caleb’s shooting has been pretty impressive in practice. Still some questions on DJ I think, although the coaches are very confident in him as a major upgrade. Also, they need to get someone who can guard Hunter in practice, lol
