My bigger gripe is that OSU would win the conference and we destroyed them twice, plus they only had Iowa and Indiana once each. Illinois beat the men’s team once, but the games we missed were almost gimmes. I also wouldn’t have begrudged Illinois had they tried to claim a share or hang a banner. Illinois proved in Ann Arbor that they were at least close to us. But not winning at least a share of this conference title for the women would be completely unjust since we were clearly the better team and played a far tougher conference schedule.
Agreed on all counts. Michigan absolutely handled OSU in both matchups. Maybe we’ll get lucky and MSU can pull off the upset.
I don’t think there’s any doubt that Illinois was great last year and their gripe was legitimate (although getting knocked out in the first round of the tournament was funny given all of their griping).
And, yes, Michigan absolutely played a much tougher schedule. I believe Indiana is the only team in the top 7 of the conference that Michigan didn’t play twice.
For tonight, we celebrate an incredible senior class and an undefeated home season. Would have loved to see Naz get the 1000th rebound tonight at home, but it will come Sunday.
What a memorable season this has been!
DEFENSE!
So so much better in the 2nd half. Everyone was in the right spot 95%+ of the time in the 2nd half and it made such a difference. They also really fought out every possession on that end in that half.
Great to see Naz and the seniors close out their regular season at Crisler with a win.
Great postgame interview but could she please leave us a clone for next year?
Wow, slugfest!
If you like photos, here’s a ton:
Love the photos! My daughter loves the wide shot of Maddie Nolan shooting the corner 3.
That’s what I love about Michigan Women’s Basketball, our young girls have exceptional women college basketball players to idolize and emulate, and as terrific as those ladies are as players, they are even more exceptional as young women and role models.
I hope your daughter frames that picture of Maddie, if JD1 allows it, and EVERY time she shoots the basketball, I hope she visualizes that perfect form. There Maddie is with that great tall, slender Michigan State player fully extended with a hand up defending her, and there is Maddie about two feet off the floor, straight up, not floating at all, with her arm extended, her hand down “waving the ball goodbye” in perfect shooting form! That’s how you teach it and that’s what she should see every time she shoots the ball, it’s what she should see as she lies in bed at night, and she should also visualize seeing the ball go through the hoop, nothing but net!
In case you can’t tell, I’m big on visualization!
Thanks! I rented out that lens for the next week. The 70-200mm 2.8 lens is kind of the go-to lens for basketball, but I like having this 24-70mm 2.8 as an option. Depending on where I’m sitting on the baseline, it can be tough to catch corner-shots with the 70-200. Having a wider lens, makes those more available. I have a 24-105mm, which goes wide but it’s an f/4.0, so it’s not as good in low light.
BTW- You may be seeing some more of my work in the near future.
I (unfortunately for me) don’t have any agreement to be able to sell images of any Michigan athletics, so I can’t help there.
However, I’m sure people can make prints if they really want to.
I would think people could make prints. I just don’t know the rules and I didn’t want to pay $450/hr to get legal advice on that from my lawyer!
Is that a hint…I hope!
Here’s a breakdown of the Big Ten Title and seedings for the tournament depending on how today goes.
Ohio State is up 32-29 on Michigan State at halftime.
Some interesting notes: Ohio State is 2-4 in games against the top 5 of the conference, Michigan is (for now) 6-0. Michigan’s also outscored Ohio State by 38 in their two meetings.
If not for a snowstorm three weeks ago, Michigan would’ve already clinched a share of the Big Ten Title and had clinched the No. 1 seed no matter what happened today. That’s because its game with Illinois (who is last in the conference) was canceled because the Wolverines couldn’t travel and then there weren’t any makeup times left for the teams.
Start of the second quarter and we’re up 25-20. Just got screwed on a block/charge call. Typical.
Leigha Brown back today. Would be huge for her to be able to give a solid effort
Too many mental mistakes this quarter. Iowa up 32-31 with 5 to go before half.
OSU beats MSU by 6. They do not deserve this title. Pray to the basketball gods for justice to be done.
