Danielle Rausch is Fired up!

Just unlucky on that defensive possession

Phelia with a great defensive possession on Clouden there

Is number 11 that good?

42% shooter from deep on high volume. Rauch shouldn’t have lost sight of her. The one she made earlier was just a heave though

Got it. Yeah, the heave was a miracle, but that’s what so often happens in a game like this.

And a turnover seals it. Gonna take a miracle down 6 with 40 to go

Without Brown, we have no perimeter players able to create. Phelia will be, maybe as soon as next year, but she’s a freshman. Dilk is not 100% still, or she’d be able to be relied on more.

Sparty ruins another M season. Erghhh!

I see arico still struggles to beat msu rival. Prolly cost any shot at regular season title.

We had won three in a row in the series before tonight. Indiana still has three games left against ranked teams. Far from over

They’ll bounce back. Hopefully, Leigha Brown returns soon. We could’ve used her tonight.

To follow up on this, KBA is 6-12 vs MSU in her Michigan career. The series, all time, Michigan is only 22-73 all time, which means before she arrived, the rivalry record for Michigan was 16-61, which is a .208 win %. KBA has a .333 win % against MSU. Obviously not ideal, but Michigan’s program has historically been really bad and her predecessor was 1-11 against MSU. Granted, he inherited a really bad Michigan program, but he won his first game against MSU and then never won again.

The only coach to have a good record against MSU is Sue Guevera, at 7-4. So between KBA and Guevera, Michigan has only 9 wins against MSU in program history.

Historical context is fine and all, but Michigan has finished higher in the Big Ten standings the past 6 years. They’ve been the better program recently so it’s a little disappointing. Expectations should be recalibrated based on the present. You’d like to see Michigan start taking care of business against MSU when they are the better team

Obviously yes, but most of those disappointing losses against MSU were in seasons where Michigan faltered late. KBA teams typically had a February/March collapse until they started making the NCAA tourney again. In seasons in which Michigan finishes higher than MSU in the final standings, KBA is 6-6 against them, typically winning at home, losing on the road. If you count this season, 6-7. And while the MSU women are not on the level of the men, even in a bad season they haven’t been at the level of a typical N’W or Nebraska men. They’ve still been ~.500 in conference play in seasons they finish below Michigan in conference standings.

I just don’t think the MSU game is some sort of monkey she has to get off her back before we take the next step. We lost a game to a rival on the road. I would be surprised if we lost to them at home.

Arico still the same when it comes down the stretch can’t finish blew huge opportunity to win league title. Oh well

Brown still out. Had to come back to force OT. Thought they’d carry the momentum into the extra period. Disappointing but team still looks good for the best season ever.

Yes. It would be nice to overcome losing your 2nd best player but they couldn’t pull it off in either road game this week. Next week, more opportunities come, with or without Leigha Brown.
