Your last paragraph is what I’m talking about. I think it’s just top heavy. We need the middle and bottom to get better. Our only losses were to the teams above us aside from Wisconsin (without Brown and Phelia). Too many walkovers at the bottom. Kind of the opposite of the men’s conference this year that had no real top teams but a lot of ok teams and only one real doormat.
I guess UCLA and USC joining will help the depth.
If there is one solace I find
It is that no matter how far Kim Mulkey and LSU gets
Dawn Staley and Aaliyah Boston will be there to beat them like rug
UConn vs OSU. Huskies just a whole different class. Parity is much better than it was even a decade ago but there’s still a world of difference between the top few programs and the best of the rest
This has not aged well lol.
That OSU press was for real, as Michigan already knew.
Caitlin Clark is fun to watch.
Unless you’re playing against her!
Iowa vs South Carolina would be a very interesting matchup if South Carolina gets by Maryland tomorrow.
Well that would stink
Ari Wiggins also.
okay are they losing every single player I’ve heard of except phelia? are they going to be bad now?? from afar, this looks like a real “actually, you’re not as good a program as you thought you were” moment.
Michigan has some highly ranked recruits incoming. Wonder whether this is a sign of internal issues, or just the kind of attrition that might be associated with the knowledge that a player will likely not start. Looking forward to some comments from people in the know.
Wiggins doesn’t surprise me
A high ranking recruit who has barely gotten on the floor
Yep. Disappointing since she has much needed athleticism but she never really impressed enough to get consistent minutes.
Nolan would be a loss as a floor spacer. More minutes for Hobbs
Damn. (characters)
Nolan is surprising and I think any alternative makes us worse
I think Stuck needs to play a lot next year (would have said that regardless of the transfers)
There were two highly-ranked recruits who didn’t play a lot as Freshman (Kate Clarke and Alyssa Crockett). Maybe they were projected into bigger roles? I guess, if they weren’t already, they are now.
Also, their 3 recruits (ranked #59, #74, and #77 overall, by ESPN) are all listed as guards.
