Michigan to host Pro Day and Media Day on Oct. 18

Wolverines Announces Plans to Hold Pro Day for Oct. 18th

9/23/2024

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – David and Meredith Kaplan U-M Men’s Basketball Head Coach Dusty May announced today (Monday, Sept. 23), that the Wolverines will hold its annual Pro Day & Media Day on Friday (Oct. 18) at the William Davidson Player Development Center for NBA, G-League and other professional league scouts. Pro Day will start at approximately 10:30 a.m.

“The opportunity to showcase our guys and build upon the successes Michigan has had in developing professional players is the goal,” said May. “Allowing scouts to see the development of our guys, on and off the court, only helps in their preparations to reach the next level of play.”

The 16-member Wolverine roster will run through combine testing stations and individual skill work before holding interviews with various outlets and scouts. Following an afternoon break, scouts will be invited to watch a U-M practice at Crisler Center.

Since 2011, the Maize & Blue has had 17 NBA Draft selections (first: 11; second: 6) with Jett Howard (1st, No. 11; Orlando Magic) and Kobe Bufkin (1st, No. 15; Atlanta Hawks) being the most recent Wolverines picked in the 2023 draft.

Overall, Michigan has had 78 Wolverines selected to the NBA, with 31 first-round selections, including five top-five picks and two No. 1 overall – Cazzie Russell (1966; New York Knicks) and Chris Webber (1993; Orlando Magic/Golden State Warriors).

Traditionally scheduled in late June following the NBA Finals, the 2025 NBA Draft will again be held in Brooklyn, N.Y., at the Barclays Center. The NBA offices will announce the official date, times, and TV at a later date.

Nice PR move. Cool way to spice up training.

Has Michigan basketball done this (Pro Day) before/recently? I know Michigan football does it

They’ve had a pro day, yes, but never connected to Media Day. Just a private day when they invite scouts to watch practice/testing/workouts.

Like most things in the Juwan Howard era, it wasn’t necessarily publicized like this though.

I think they probably did a couple of social media photos afterward or something once or twice.
