Michigan Players in the NBA

Why not?

So far, their Twitter account hasn’t reacted: https://twitter.com/jdscottphoto/status/1205562284531159040

Just watched Duncan try to box out AD … went about as well as you could expect.

Hit a couple big 3’s tonight though.

Incredibly fun game. I get that the NBA season is absurdly long, but these are absurdly gifted players doing crazy, crazy stuff.

DW with 30 minutes last night… which I assume was not just garbage time. He has the luxury of playing for DOC who recognizes the value of PG play by controlling the tempo and value the ball possession. I don’t believe they need him to score…great to see.

I can confirm that it wasn’t garbage time. He was one of the 5 on the court for the last 5 min or so when the game was within a few possessions. The tweet above is referring how he forced Andrew Wiggins into a travel on a fast break opportunity for the Twolves.

Thanks for the update…so glad he’s getting the opportunity. Hopefully the Clips extend his contract in January, I’m not sure it’s guaranteed. These short term deals are really just an extended tryout IMO…he might stick!

Lol, I see you got messed up by the post in this thread too

Derrick Walton has played in the Clippers last 7 games

Played 10+ minutes in 4 of the past 5

And 25+ in the last two (Lou Williams didn’t play in either, and also George and Leonard split the two as they were a back to back, so this my be an aberration)

I watched last night (they lost) but from what I saw combined with what I read about the play of Terrence Mann and Jerome Robinson, it’s not hard to see why Walton plays now - he doesn’t screw up, he makes open shots, and he gets them into their offense with at least 18 seconds on the clock. That’s it, but it makes him playable. He’s not really asked to score much or even create much (though he dropped a few dimes just by swinging the ball quickly and accurately), just make sure things function.

I remembered that the Maize Rage treasurer follows me on Twitter. I reached out to him and he likes the idea. He said he’s going to bring it up at their next meeting.

The dream is moving towards reality!

Duncan got love today on the Lowe Post with Bill Simmons for being one of the biggest surprises this season in the NBA (around 31:30, if interested).

Duncan update…

Duncan having another one of “those nights.” 6/10 on threes for 18 points in 20 minutes with a couple minutes left in the 3rd.

Heat studio guy’s mid quarter analysis: “He’s obviously a great shooter, but what’s really impressing me is his defense.”

So who thought they’d hear that in an NBA game broadcast about Duncan Robinson in 2016?

What a crazy road Hardaway Jr. has had to where he is now. Finished with 27 points on 7/11 from three in a big win at Philly. After being on shitty teams for his entire NBA existence it’s gotta feel good to be on a true contender.

Also the site just yelled at me for consecutive posts so I’ll stop now lmao

He gets $19 million next season on the last year of his current contract.

Nice piece on Walton: https://www.latimes.com/sports/clippers/story/2019-12-16/derrick-walton-jr-clippers-roster-rookie-guard-michigan

I am really happy for D Walt. He was playing at a top 5 PG in college during that second half run his senior year and I believe had that shot gone in against Oregon in the sweet 16, we’d have gone all the way.

That team was special.
