Michigan Players in the NBA

The Maize Rage’s Poole Parties were fun. I’ll miss seeing those. I’m also glad they didn’t try to adopt an event around Livers.

Random question… Do you know what they’re doing with the cows? Every game there’s a group of about 5 students dressed in cow costumes similar to the Bee-line students, but I have no clue what the cow signifies.

I was wondering the same thing. My guess is that it was laundry day. Random, clean cow costume found on the dorm room floor. It’s college; this it possible.

The Cowlin Costumetons. Just made that up.

Ha! That’s gold. Right in the same line of thinking that I wanted “Bajema” to sound more like “Pajama” for a ready-made theme for the upcoming seasons.

Which brings up an important question: do they not have footie jammies over in Europe? I don’t watch that sport.

You must have been a normal person in college?

Picture John Belushi pouring mustard on his toga for no reason. Basically my junior year.

Well, they sent the guy down to the G league, and this is the “Michigan Players, etc.” thread. His struggles and Robinson’s phenomenal showing last night, I think, prompted the discussion. But I’m good with relinquishing the role of Poole’s Most Ardent Defender. Just doesn’t pay enough.

I really enjoy following the evolution of the young men in the NBA. They once had to stay in school for 4-5 years but that has obviously changed. Now they have to grow up against 30 year old men and adjust. Some are ready, some are not, but I like to watch the kids get bigger, stronger, better. Caris and THJ have greatly improved as the’ve matured, watching DJ, he could be next. DWALT might find a place and I still have hope for Burke, either way they are living the Dream! GRIII has surprisingly had a good year but in a terrible team. JP will be fine…give him time!

I know Burke wasn’t a killer prospect – more of a nice prospect in a weak draft year – but I still thought he was going to be a solid starter, and he had a rookie year that suggested as much – top ten in A:TO that year, IIRC. Hard to know who is going to blow up and who won’t.

I don’t follow the NBA closely. What has held Burke back from being a solid NBA starter?

Not a good enough playmaker for a PG. Couldn’t finish at the rim or really get there against NBA level athletes, so he’s lived in the midrange which is not a place you want to live.

Defense has been a concern for Trey Burke as well.

Maybe his range really stopped right at the college 3 line. I thought he’d be a good enough 3 shooter in the NBA.

I think he’s played well enough in Dallas and NY but he needs a home and team that value his skill set. I think Dallas wanted to keep him but Barrera was a fan favorite though he could end up there again IMO. I think he’ll keep fighting for minutes in Philly, Simmons can’t/won’t shoot from three.

Above it all, I love watching the UM players compete at the next level. Most of them didn’t fit the 5 star all American mold out of High School and worked hard to get better and listen to JB. Lots of 3 and 4 star guys making millions, probably over $100M impact when it’s all added up. That’s what I call “Michigan Players in the NBA”! Everything earned…nothing given!!

Hachimura is in that mix too.

Next year, if recruiting hits a home run, there could be Jay-Guppies all through the Maize Rage :fish::tropical_fish::blowfish:.
