Michigan Players in the NBA

I don’t think it was the wrong choice for him to leave, and he got a first-round deal so that ends that debate. He left at a good time to leave. I also thought it would be a really perfect situtation for a player who might have some maturity issues, to be surrounded by guys like that and in particular Klay Thompson.

Just to clarify one thing, THJ’s career 3 pt percentage is 35.2%, hardly elite. He has shot a bit better recently.

OTOH, Hardaway is my least favorite of all the Michigan alums currently in the NBA. I never thought he was particularly talented and he leans toward selfish. But, dang, he continue to pull in the big bucks!

I said elite? He made 38%+ last year, and it was the first year he’s had that justified that insane contract Phil Jackson gave him.

If he can make 38% of 7 shots a game from 3, he’s an asset.

@mgl, nope, wasn’t trying to suggest that you said THJ was elite. Actually, I was trying to say that he is overrated and overpaid (and I don’t particularly like him). I think we both agree on this. For sure, 38% is good, but he has yet to prove that he can sustain that.

BTW, I appreciated your summary of the NBA Mich alums, nice job.

Forever memories of TH2 second half of the OSU OT game in Crisler in '13. A friend from B12 territory came with me that night and said it was one of the loudest arenas he’d ever seen, and I agree. That was a loud night, and a great night. Four second-half 3s for TH2, and lots of chest beating. The rest of the team fed off his energy that night, IIRC.

THJ isn’t overrated, no one particularly ever rates him. Overpaid, yeah probably. But that’s the Knicks fault and I’m glad for THJ that he got the bag. When he’s played on good teams he’s shot well. He’s reaching his prime now so I think it’s fair to think he can keep up this level or shooting (or near it) for a couple more seasons which would make him a quality piece. Not to mention playing with Luka will help him considerably. I hope he keeps it up and gets another final solid contract.

Something funny I just realized, THJ is only 2 years (25 months) older than Duncan.

It’s wild to me that any Michigan fan could dislike THJ

I’m pretty sure everyone knows you don’t like Poole or think he’s any good. The countless posts are a giveaway.

I liked Jordan Poole very much at Michigan and I think I defended him for almost his entire sophomore year. I do think he has been an awful pro, because he has.

“Not a hyperathletic franchise scorer” sounds a lot like CJ McCollum.

I love TIMMAY and I’m happy he’s in the situation he’s in. Being the 3rd guy (once KP is back) on a team that’s fun to watch and that can make a deep playoff run is pretty perfect.

CJ’s shots go in, though.

This is true…

He’s what we call properly rated.

Poole is the reason I don’t buy the argument that any guy who gets a guaranteed contract made the right decision to go pro. He needed a lot more seasoning before becoming a pro

You get seasoning in the NBA. He wouldn’t have improved any more in college than he is in the nba

Nope, people stop improving when they leave college. Duncan Robinson was definitely this good in college.

Dang, that stinks. I hope he can stay in the league

It’s surprising. He was a solid bench player last year

Good luck to Mo, I think he’ll find a spot. The wizards are a ball dominant, “two dogs, one bone” team. It’s really tough to contribute when you only get the scraps.
