Lauren Putz another one in the seats!

They’re playing Maryland on BTN if you need a short March Madness break.

MICHIGAN is up 7-0 in the top of the 2nd. Conway also has gone yard.

Putz had another HR today, as Michigan beat Wisky 8-1. That makes 10 big flies on the season.

Also, not only was her dad a Wolverine and MLBer but her mom Kelsey starred for the softball team:

  • In November 1997, Kollen-Putz orally committed to attend the University of Michigan on a softball scholarship.[4] She enrolled at Michigan in the fall of 1998 and played college softball under head coach Carol Hutchins from 1999 to 2002. She was Michigan’s starting second baseman all four years.[5]

As a freshman in 1999, Kollen-Putz tied Michigan’s single-season record with 89 hits. She was named a first-team All-Big Ten Conference player and the Big Ten Freshman of the Year. She was also a second-team NFCA All-American at second base.[5][6]

As a junior in 2001, Kollen-Putz led the Wolverines with 85 hits and 45 runs scored. She was selected as the first-team NFCA All-American at second base and received her second first-team All-Big Ten team recognition.[5][7]

As a senior in 2002, she was Michigan’s co-captain. She received her third first-team All-Big Ten team award. She was also a finalist for USA Softball’s first College Softball Player of the Year award. During the 2002 NCAA Regional 6 Tournament, she compiled a .615 batting average and was named the tournament MVP.[5][8]

Kollen ranks among Michigan’s all-time career leaders with 298 hits (2nd), 56 stolen bases (3rd), 187 runs (5th), and 852 at bats (3rd).[5]*

Putz with another HR today, in Michigan’s home opener. They beat Western 12-4.

MSU gave up the tying goal with about 8 minutes left and the winning goal with 10 seconds left.

If it was Michigan, I’d have lost my mind.

You cannot imagine how happy this information makes me

Minnesota also choked in their game, giving up 3 late goals and losing in OT. That means the B10 hasn’t won a game yet and only PSU, the team that knocked out Michigan, is left standing.

I don’t care at all about conference pride, so this outcome pleases me. Hahaha!!

My favorite part of MSU losing that hockey game was the Cornell band playing the victors just after the game started :rofl:

After an unfortunate loss last night, Softball took two from Sparty today. One was a blowout and the other was a walk-off in extras. Jenissa Conway hit 2 HR’s in each game. Here’s one photo from after she rounded third:

dang that’s a slick helmet too

I wasn’t sure where to put this but Coach Tholl announced that Dusty May will be participating in the Home Run Derby at this year’s Michigan Softball Academy, which raises money for breast cancer research.
She talked about the team and the event on this morning’s Michigan Insider.

I’ve volunteered my photographic services at the MSA for the last several years (except during the pandemic when it was held on-line) and it’s a great event for a great cause. If you want info about the event, message me.

Apologizes that Michigan football is clearly not a non-rev sport but couldn’t find where to put this.

But wanted to say congrats to Blake Corum and his beautiful bride! He posted this on his Instagram earlier today. Looks like they got married at the end of March
