Freshman Lauren Putz, puts another one into the seats!

Michigan 8
Princeton 4

It’s Putz’s 8th HR on the season and she’s hitting .411. with a 1.347 OPS. She’s ahead of Keke Tholl’s 16 HR pace from last year.

Michigan improves to 19-7 overall. They have another game today vs. Missouri, where Keke is now a coach, in a little over an hour.

I am assuming she’s the daughter of former Michigan and MLB star JJ Putz??

Indeed she is!

I am going to jump ahead of things but Tholl’s 16 HR last year was the most in a season since 2016, when Sierra Romero hit 19. That would be something if Putz chased that number down as a freshman. Romero hit 22 the year before (and 23 as a freshman!). I don’t think either is attainable.

BTW- That 2015 team had some bombers!

Also, it looks like the Mizzou game was either rained out or is still in a long delay.

Speaking of dumb starting times, Michigan Softball is playing their make-up against Missouri right now, in a game that started at 9am local. It’s currently not going well.
