Game 4: Houston Baptist at Michigan Open Thread

I died laughing in my apartment when he said that lol

So what happened to Mr. Teske? I see he had 12 rebounds, but was a bit invisible on the scoring end.

This offense has looked surprisingly good early

I missed the game as I am at work. cliffnotes?

Nunez is just a shooter who can’t shoot. I don’t see him getting much pt the rest of this year or next year.

That’s a pretty small sample size you’re judging him from.

Duncan Robinson shot under 30% from 3 last year, but we all knew he was better than that through many other observations. Same with Nunez, he can clearly shoot very well as seen in warmups, practices etc…

I don’t hold the sentiment that he’ll be a key player when Franz comes back, but I think it’s shortsighted to say he can’t shoot

Fast paced game with a lot of drives and subsequent kick outs for 3. Just didn’t have the ball that much, really nothing to worry about at all.

Nunez can shoot. I’m fact it’s pretty clear from all his film and I’m sure In practice that he’s an elite shooter, Hopefully his struggles from deep don’t continue because he obviously is a negative if he can’t hit threes at this point but to me it’s obviously a nerves thing. Look at dejulius last year and Eli the previous two. All these guys can clearly shoot. It’s nerves and hitting shots with the bright lights on.

One positive for Nunez is at least he’s firing them still so hopefully his confidence isn’t waning.

Honestly he just might be. This roster and x are being slept on. The kid is a beast and is looking like an all American. He single handily took over that creighton game.

His offense is finally catching up to his d. Let’s hope his offensive dominance continues when the competitor is a creighton level squad or better each night but I’m confident it will.

Im pretty bitter I won’t be able to catch that whole iowa st game. I’m hoping the squad plays to it’s potential next week because if it does it’s going to shake up that Atlantis tourney and wake the national media up.

Reading a lot of articles and mentions of the stacked tourney and Michigan is being named as an after thought or not at all in ā€œthe stacked fieldā€. Let’s hope the lights aren’t too bright for some of the pups (dejulius, johns, Colin) because if this roster can play to it’s potential they have a real shot to win it.

Love your optimism, Sly. I’ve seen most games and have really enjoyed watching, but the jury is still out, for me.

Shooting in practice does not equal shooting in games. He clearly has not demonstrated any ability to do the latter.

Yeah, it’s probably a mental thing, but he’s just about lost his opportunity to break through. He’ll probably get a couple more chances throughout the rest of the year, but it’s getting late early.

In college yes, but he was a sharp shooter in prep school. That’s why I think it’s nerves. It’s not like he’s not getting clean looks due to an inability to get open. He’s just missing,

Sometimes going up a level makes things go too fast (hope he’s hitting in practice scrimmages too). Lots of great college shooters never find their stroke in the pros. I’m rooting for him, and the coaches see him every day and are giving him starts, so while he hasn’t hit game shots consistently there is certainly plenty of time for him to find a groove.
